I’m not religious as I have stated before, but one thing that concerns me and I’m sure many others is the idea of taking prayer out of public schools. No, I don’t think it should be forced on children, but would it really hurt? There has been many different interpretations of The First Amendment in past years.

I think it’s great that we have the freedom to choose our religion, but many choose to interpret that part of the document as a rule to get away from religion and God. We have always had the choice of sending our children to a private school if we can afford it or using the public school system and it wasn’t always a problem that you had a religious faith that you upheld.

We are concerned with Nate because his parents chose to send him to a private church academy where prayer is allowed and encouraged, he will start 1st grade this year and the academy goes to the 4th. As yet Bill and I don’t know if they have decided to leave him there or try the public school system. I want what is best for Nate and Bill is concerned that the little guy might not fit in.

There is a huge problem at the administrative level and we should be concerned that they are becoming more oppressive in as much that people of faith are being forced to go “into the closet” and hide their values and their religious beliefs. We want our children to learn how to be who they are even though they might be different from who other people are, that’s part of life.

Just because there are people who don’t like religion or have other faiths should that be a mandate to rid our school of something so basic as a prayer? I don’t think any body has the right to force any type of belief or religious system on anyone, especially a child. Of course we raise them the best we can and teach them things we were taught and that we think is right for them, but they will make their own choices when they are older.

Whether a person is Atheist or not and no matter what his belief system do you honestly think a prayer is going to corrupt our children? “In God I Trust”

The Baby Phat Line Has It All

   Posted by: admin   in Misc

Baby Phat is a well known established brand by Kimora Lee Simmons and together with hubby Russell have turned the Baby Phat name and brand into a phenomenal business in just 10 years. They definitely set the standard in fashion and sportswear for the trendy hip hop generation. I see that little cat on everything from lingerie, jewelry, shorts, jeans, all types of other apparel and don’t forget the baby phat purses, perfumes, and makeup and they even have bedding.

Anything you can think of to design so have they. It’s not just for the young, it’s a brand name that everyone adores wearing even everyone’s favorite Paula Abdul. Our own children and relatives love it and can afford the prices and love the fit from babies and children to the fashionable urban yuppies and everybody else. The celebrities that have made it fashionable and trendy are way too many for me too list here.

Success must taste sweet for this gorgeous former runway fashion model/designer. In my opinion she has it all, beauty, brains, family, and home that is truly the American dream.

Fear Of Death

Posted by: admin   in Home and Family

People seem to have a hard time discussing death and dying because no one really understands it. Of course you hear accounts of people dying and coming back and they try to share this miracle that has happened to them, but people are sceptical and fearful because they don’t believe or understand. I believe!

People fear what will happen to them after they leave this reality and depending on the faith and teachings that they were taught as children they will cling to those ideas. I have met many that were very devout in their belief and their way was the right and only way to reach the Kingdom of Heaven. I personally believe in no religion and I think one is just as good as another.

I do however believe in God and spirituality and that there is nothing to fear in dying. It’s simply a return of the energy to it’s source. I also know that nothing or no one can actually harm me, the real me because I’m not this body. Sure they can blow my body to bits or chop me up and yes this body would hurt in this reality, but like I said this body isn’t me.

I think everyone has to find their own truth and just because your truth isn’t mine or mine yours it doesn’t make either one wrong nor does it make it right, it just is. When I was young before my Mother died she must have been searching for her own truth because she exposed me to many different religions.

I remember the snake pit and the people that worshiped with them and then there were the Pentecostal, as children we called them Holy Rollers and they scared me more than the snakes. I thought they were like one of those chickens that jerked and flopped all over the place after my Mama had wrung it’s neck and the weird noises and sounds that came out of their mouth was spooky.

It’s really weird that I would marry into a family that all spoke in tongues and flopped all over the place. I even witnessed my Mother-in-law fall and crack her head several times and have no recollection or pain afterwards. Tommy’s sister was an Evangelist and practised laying on of hands and she tried to make me receive the Holy Spirit, but it just didn’t happen so she said I was blocked by a demon or devil.

At any rate I have been in many churches of different religions while growing up and they all believe that their way is the only way to God. I believe that everyone and everything is already safe with God and this is just a dream of life, the only problem is I can’t figure out why I wanted to have this dream in the first place.

I have always had a yearning to go home even when I was home, if you can understand what I’m referring to, maybe you’ve had the same yearning. I also believe that we share the same soul and are united, these are my truths and they make sense to me. Poor Bill at times thinks I’m a nut, but he’s very respectful toward my way of thinking just as I am toward his and everyone else.

I don’t fear dying, but I don’t like this reality of feeling pain. I was in bed with my Mother when she died and she was not afraid, I was 7 years old and it made a lasting impression on me and 6 months later my Daddy died and he had been paralyzed on one side of his body for as long as I could remember and used a cane to drag himself around.

Ever Been Shogging Before?

   Posted by: admin   in Misc

Compare Prices at shogging.com, never heard of it before? Well, today was the first I heard about it also. They have many merchants in their data base and when you run a search for a product Shogging will find the best deal for you and you can take it from there. They are simply the middleman and you buy directly from the companies. I think it’s a convenient service to bookmark for future use.

Why do they call this site Shogging? Because you can compare, buy and blog about it all from their site, shop+blog= Shog. I was trying to figure out that name till I read the site of course and then it made sense. I left a comment about the Frizzy2Silky product because I used it before.

You can go to the individual merchant site and blog a comment and also leave a rating that way it might help someone else when they are debating on the prospect of buying something unfamiliar. They have special offers and deals listed under each product and I found the site pretty easy to navigate and understand. So I guess I can now say I have been shogging.

Weekend Harley Riders

Posted by: admin   in Harley Seniors

The weekend is almost over and I did very little online, everyone needs a break and my eyes feel better from not looking at this screen for long periods of time. I did a lot of thinking about all the time I devote to this convenience of communication. I’m sure I will still spend time on here, but I think I need to prioritize my usage of time for other things.

Bill and I were able to get 2 days in of riding and we stopped to look at a trike. When we get older I’m sure we will consider that option. I think we are going to test drive one soon to get the feel of course Bill wants to keep the Ultra Classic, but I don’t know if that will be economical for us considering the trike is close to 30,000 dollars, but we’ll see.

I’m sure it will be a lot different because he wont have to worry about holding the weight of the bike and he wont have to put his feet down when we stop. We wont have to worry about windy days blowing us out of whack and I really think there will be less chances of accidents although they can happen at any time under any circumstances.

They aren’t just for the elderly and disabled even though many disabled people switch over to trikes because they just can’t get riding out of their blood, even after losing a limb. I think Bill thinks he wont seem so cool (which he always will be) because he’s been riding all his life and riding a trike maybe makes him feel like he’s putting training wheels back on.

I see many young guys riding trikes and a lot of women. I personally would love to have one because I think they are cool and they run just as fast and the way they are made now the suspension is much better than it use to be so it will corner well. To tell you the truth I would feel safer because the way Bill takes corners sometimes makes me think the bike is going to go one way and we are going to fly off in the opposite direction.

My personal choice is not to wear a helmet even though Bill does. I’m sure many people think I’m nuts, but I could care less what other people think any more. Of course if they bring back the helmet law in PA I will be forced to wear one again. They make my head sweat and itch and I don’t like it. I have also seen and heard of people dying with or without wearing one in accidents.

We rode up to the open flea market today and of course my hair was a wind blown mess. I thought we were simply going for a ride and I wasn’t expecting the stop and having to walk around and have people look at me like I was a bum and wouldn’t you know we ran into one of the biggest gossips I know. I always try to look presentable, but couldn’t this time.

After  chatting for a few minutes and telling us all the gossip she kept looking at my hair and Bill said something about the bike and she said, “Oh are you riding today?” All I could do is look at her and flip my fingers through my hair and say, “Couldn’t you tell?” Irritating old Bitty now she’ll go around telling people that I looked like a wild woman that doesn’t comb her hair.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest Kills 325,000 A Year

Posted by: admin   in Senior Health

St. Jude Medical has a site with lots of information and resources about SCA and that stands for Sudden Cardiac Arrest. There’s also a risk factor assessment that you can print and fill out from St Jude Medical and you can take it with you on your next visit to your doctor so you can discuss it together. I think you’ll find this very interesting, I know I did.

I was reading about all the risk factors because heart attacks run in my family and with SCA even with no risk factors it could happen in a second and if not treated within 4-6 minutes it could be fatal, now that’s scary. I was amazed that it actually kills 325,000 people a year. On the video it shows a graph and this was higher than cancer and Alzheimer.

This site has 2 videos that will show you how the heart actually works and the doctor explains everything as you watch the heart and it’s easy to understand the way it’s explained, the other one explains about sudden cardiac arrest and I think everyone should watch them to learn more about treatment and therapy.

I have never known anyone that had to have an ICD implant. ICD stands for Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator and it is put under the skin and a lead goes through a vein into the heart, you’ll have to read it for yourself because I’m not good at explaining technical stuff.

I would imagine it’s along the lines of a pace maker, but I have never really read much about those either. They use these implants to treat in their words, dangerously fast heart rates. You’ll want to learn more about this.

Spring Is Finally Here

Posted by: admin   in Home and Family

The weather was beautiful yesterday and today is gorgeous. I mowed the lawn and did some edging, pruned my rose bush I transplanted it last year and thought it was going to die, but it’s blooming although there were some dead parts that I had to remove. I have never  grown anything in my life that lived till I moved in with Bill. So I really don’t have that much experience. My brother was always trying to teach me things, but I was never interested.

Bill and I had to reposition one of our evergreen bushes because it decided it wanted to grow backwards instead of standing up straight. So after repositioning it and watering it down I thought it was going to be fine, but the ground isn’t level so Bill had to insert a stake and anchor it till it settles and decides to stay straight.

I also removed my Tennessee grass except for the one showing below (I call it that because I brought it back to Pa from my brothers house)
tennesseegrass1.jpgfrom the front flower bed and got that ready to plant some flowers Saturday. I know you can get it anywhere, but this is special grass and I don’t know the proper name for it. I haven’t decided on the type of flowers or colors yet, but they will have to stand up to a lot of direct sunlight.

So all and all it was a productive day for me except I keep forgetting about my degenerating disk and today I’m suffering for it. I really didn’t accomplish much on the computer yesterday, but it’s good to take a break every now and then. Now when I go out on the balcony I can admire my handiwork and it makes me feel good.

I don’t mind getting older, but I get frustrated that I can’t do the things I use to do. I keep saying I need to make a living will, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. I certainly would not like to be kept alive by machines and I definitely want to make it legal so there will be no questions if that time should ever come and someone decides otherwise.

I also moved my Cactus to the front porch so it can get lots of sun, but I waited till the really cold weather had past. I’ve had this cactus since it was eight inches high and that was 4 years ago or maybe a little longer and I’ve transplanted it 3 times. I have seen this type grow to huge proportions. Not quite sure what I’ll do with it if it out grows my house, maybe I shouldn’t put it in a larger vessel.

As you can see from the photo it’s sitting on my suggestion box on the front porch and yes that is a faux commode and yes I am a bit quirky and I love it. I bought it from a place going out of business for 5 dollars. At one point I kept the lid up and was growing flowers from inside, it was cute or at least I thought so. I have to do some other things so I’ll wish you a great day.
