Friday Mind Rambling

Posted by: jude   in Mature Not Senile Misc

I have three different blogs and I feel like I put on a different personality with each one. I’m beginning to think that I’m mentally challenged, no wonder my headaches are getting more frequent. I don’t know who I am from one day to the next or even in the same day.

I try to update at least every other day and sometimes I might go a week straight and take the weekend off. I know people get bored when they go to a blog and see the same thing over and over especially if they are dropping cards for Entrecard.

Speaking of Entrecard, I really like the program and have picked up a lot of different tips and ideas, but I still haven’t figured out what works best for me. Lately I have just been dropping and racking up credits, but last night I went on an advertising spree. I got a little carried away for all 3 blogs.

Everyone worries about traffic for their blog for various reasons and I’m sure we all try everything that comes along or at least I know I have. I know I have left more comments in the past 2 months then any other time since being online for 10 years. When I first started I had a personal website that I threw up for the people I knew in a chatroom.

I really didn’t care about traffic back then. It was only when I decided to try and make a couple dollars online that traffic became an issue for me. I tried many programs like traffic exchanges, writing and submitting articles and on and on. The last year or so it’s been social sites and that sort of thing.

We would all like to have regular readers whether we have something to say or not and I do appreciate those that leave a comment and I know all of you appreciate that too. It’s like getting an unexpected present unless I look at all the spam that Akismet catches then it feels like a curse.

I hope everyone has a relaxing great weekend. It’s rainy and cold here and tomorrow doesn’t look much better according to the weather channel so I guess riding will be out of the question, but I do need to rearrange the attic so I guess that will be tomorrows project.

I posted about the Renuzit TriScents “Transform Your Home with Tanya Memme” Promotion a couple weeks ago and now they have picked the top ten semi-finalists so I went over to register and vote. You can vote once a day up until June 7th. I thought the video above was adorable, but that isn’t where I put my vote today. I felt really bad for several of the semi-finalist and it’s too bad they can’t all win. Do one of these families a favor and go view the semi-finalist gallery and pick your favorite.

Unfortunately I didn’t know any of the semi-finalist, it would be nice to help someone I know win the 20,000 home makeover. I chose the Hiatt family from the semi-finalist gallery shown below because her husband served in Iraq and they touched my heart with all they need to get done. I think everyone should vote and help someone in need. Of course for their favorite not mine. I will probably split up my votes between a couple different ones.

It only takes a minute to register and the videos aren’t long so it didn’t take long to view the ones they had, like I said several of the families I felt really bad for so I’ll split my votes. You will really enjoy the video of the little girl, she did a really good job.

I don’t know if you’re like me, but I have never been a stickler for punctuation. I know many people in my life that get very upset when they see bad punctuation or a word being used improperly. I really don’t care that we Americans have so many slang words for everything, after all they are only words and have no meaning except what we give them.

I could listen to some of those hiphop and street kids talk and it would all sound like jabbering to me, but so long as they are down with it so be it. There are more important things to be upset about as far as I’m concerned. I know it’s important to have communication and the proper words to convey what you’re feeling or talking about.

It disturbs me a tad when people are annal or rather anal and are always correcting someone, I have yet to meet anyone that is perfect. I don’t claim to be a writer and I always get confused about using apostrophes because I can never remember if the ‘ goes before the s or after to show ownership and I actually don’t care. I understand what’s implied and that’s all that matters.

It seems that the older I get my mind starts playing a few tricks on me. I am forever using a different word for the one I actually meant like there and their, hills and heels and I never can remember if the i goes before e or viceversa when it comes to words like receipt. I have forgotten all the rules I learned in school because I never had to apply them in my life time.

I would never go to someones blog and correct their grammar or punctuation as far as I’m concerned I can leave if I have a hard time looking at it and if someone gave me link love do you really think I am going to be annal= anal ” there’s that misspelled word again”  and tell them they didn’t punctuate correctly. I cracked up the other day when I saw someone do just that.

We all see little mistakes like that all the time, but must we feel like it’s our duty to point them out? I am not the Internet grammar, punctuation police and I always see these people as cocky and superior types, but to each their own. I’ll take the down home plain speaking or writing person, mistakes and all any day over the uptight, annal-minus 1 n, obsessive know it all.

This really didn’t start out as a rant. It was simply to poke fun at myself because I also forget which words are allowed to be slapped together like alot or should it be a lot? You understand what I’m saying I’m sure and I’d hate to check my blog someday or some day and find that it had been graded by the grammar police and received an F.

I have found that gardening is good for the soul. I think I mentioned before that I was never good at making anything grow, while most of my siblings were very good at it. At one point when I was young I even managed to kill cactus now how pathetic is that? The past 5 years I have learned to take pleasure in actually planting different things and watching them grow.

I grew some fantastic tomatoes last year and I think I’ll grow some herbs this year. Gardening is great for everyone, but especially therapeutic for older people. Our neighbor stays totally occupied with his yard and growing his flowers since his wife died. Everyone goes to him for advice and he loves to help. It’s a great learning experience for children and people like me.

I’m stubborn so I never ask him for advice because I want to learn on my own, but I see him checking out the different things I plant. I find that I really enjoy watching the things I plant grow, it’s very fulfilling and I feel like I have missed so much all these years. Pretty soon we may all be growing our own food because of the sky rocketing price of gas pushing the prices ever higher.

Organic gardening has become very popular because more people want to get away from chemicals, it’s more expensive to buy of course, but if you have a little piece of land you can grow your own organic vegetables naturally without the help of commercial fertilizers and other chemicals that are used to make the produce grow faster and bigger.

When you grow naturally it may take longer for your herbs, fruits, and vegetables to grow, but you can be assured that chemicals wont make you sick. Our neighbor always puts fertilizer around his plants and it’s sickening and my silly dogs try to eat it even though I try to keep them away and they always get sick. If you have allergies or asthma those chemicals aren’t pleasant or healthy to be around.

I do know you have to work the soil through out the year so that when you’re ready to plant you will know that your soil is rich enough in vitamins and minerals to help the seeds and plants grow. Composting will help fertilize your garden and ensure that your organic garden is healthy and hearty.

When we had race horses I use to muck out the stalls and a lot of the farmers not to mention the mushroom growers always came around for Speedy’s fantastic manure. You can find simple tricks to use all over the Internet on how to make your organic garden grow and you can even pick up my favorite “Organic Gardening For Dummies” it will show you all about making a bin and taking care of your compost.

Menopausal Women And Sexual Desire

Posted by: jude   in Senior Health

I have read so many reports about when a woman starts and ends with menopause and the consensus seems to be from 45 to 60 and since no two women are the same it can be sooner or later depending on the individual. By my calculations mine should be finished this year or next.

We all have preconceived ideas of everything that can happen to us during this time in our life. I have heard so many horror stories all my life about women going mad and others developing cancer from hormone therapy that I really didn’t know what to expect. Mine hasn’t been really horrible, but I am so sick of menopause and it has lasted long enough.

Of course I like the fact of no more menstrual cycles and we all know that this means our childbearing years are over, but mine were over when I was young because I was never able to conceive after Eric. Many people are under the assumption that women who are menopausal and have gone through menopause no longer have any sexual desire.

They presume that they continue to engage in the activity just to keep their partner happy, but they don’t get any pleasure out of it. This is certainly not the truth although I have to admit without the proper balance of hormones the libido could get out of whack. Many women do experience a drop in their sexual desire after menopause though.

Some women experience problems with the vagina being dry and this can make it hard for them to get pleasure out of sexual activity. There are some really great products on the market though that will allow you to moisturize without any negative side effects. I felt a little embarrassed when I first purchased some because I thought Oh, My God people will know that I still like sex.

If women experience issues with this I would advise you to see a gynecologist for a complete evaluation because they may be able to come up with a natural remedy that can prevent ongoing issues in the future. Some women develop a mental block toward sexual intercourse because of vaginal dryness. They also may connect it with being undesirable now that they are older.

Many times low self confidence can cause women to shy away from sexual intimacy as well, but this can happen at any age. Being able to really enjoy your body and your sexual desires when you are older is still very important. Hopefully you will be encouraged to do what you can to bring back a higher level of sexual desire.

When I was young I simply didn’t think about old people having sex, it was inconceivable and seemed perverted. Now that I’m getting there it concerns me and it’s not inconceivable or perverted at all. I am still the same person I was when I was younger, but it’s amazing how different life looks when you finally get to the more mature side of life.

Having the right balance of estrogen could help and many women like the idea of using the natural supplements that you can buy over the counter, but sometimes even those may not be enough for a woman to get back the sexual desire she once had. Your doctor can help decide what would be best for you since the level of estrogen in the body drops dramatically due to menopause, replacing it definitely can be helpful.

For many older couples, menopause can throw a monkey wrench into what was once a very enjoyable part of their intimate relationship. It’s very important to discuss what has taken place because you don’t want your partner to assume the lack of sexual responsiveness has anything to do with them not being attractive anymore.

You can find a solution that works for you so that menopause won’t stop you from engaging in sexual intimacy because regardless of age it’s still an important part of a relationship.
