The Best Laid Plans

Posted by: admin   in Home and Family

Life is full of obstacles that we have to overcome and deal with and how we choose can either make or break a situation. Take Bill for instance he knows he isn’t suppose to eat anything with seeds or nuts and to avoid corn. Even popcorn with those little kernels can give him a flare up of diverticulitis. For the longest we have been removing the seeds from tomatoes and cucumbers, but Saturday night he decided he would chance not removing the seeds.

Bad choice, he has been in so much pain the last three days and had to go to the doctor yesterday and now he is on antibiotics and has missed 2 days of work which is fine because of all the stress, but if my Son calls before he is healed about the baby coming I will have to postpone the visit so hopefully this new obstacle will resolve itself shortly before my Son calls. From now on no more chances on any type of seeds we don’t need or want an operation.

Speaking of operations either today or tomorrow my Son is having his gall bladder removed so I have that to concern myself with plus they will be doing a biopsy on some nodules they found on his lungs, he didn’t sound really concerned about that, but you never know with things of that type. Hopefully his wife wont go into labor at the same time. We’ve been planning this trip for several months now, but as usual some obstacle pops up that might put a clunker in our plans.

Life is certainly challenging at times and I’m often reminded of that misquote about the best laid plans of mice and men etcetera. ( “To a Mouse,” by Robert Burns: “The best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men / Gang aft a-gley.” )

I know with my husband getting him to follow diet restrictions for an extended period of time can be harder than getting the kids to do their chores.
I will send prayers for the gallbladder surgery, if it is being done laproscopic it isn’t that bad, that is how mine was done.

Babies often like to arrive late, so hopefully this one will too and give Bill time to recover and give time for any other obstacles to get out of the way! :-)
