Some older women look great with long hair that they put up in a chignon or some other type up do, but usually they have the coveted smooth straight hair that works well and fits their face. Older women look best with a shorter hair style and that’s a fact. I let my hair grow so I could put it up and look distinguished and elegant, but it isn’t working out that way.

I have the dreaded curly frizzy hair that the longer it grows the more I look like Bozo or Ronald McDonald and have often been mistaken for a twin of either except it isn’t that putrid orange or whatever color they have. I have decided to cut it short and not concern myself with it any more because it is out of control now and when I ride the bike it gets horribly tangled.

I only have myself to please because I know Bill would love me any way that I look so long as I’m happy then so is he. Just like when I cut his hair and the guard flipped off and made a big boo boo in the back of his head I really had to work hard to clean up that mess and God love him he didn’t even get mad at me and I still loved him even though he had no hair in the back for awhile.

I don’t know if you ever saw Sling Blade that Billy Bob Thornton  wrote, directed, and starred in as Karl, but Bill loved that movie and was always mimicking him and really getting on my nerves, but he sounds just like him, well after I was finished he looked like him too. I’m really laughing quite hard right now just remembering it and the guys at work called him Karl for the longest time.

At any rate it’s time for a change and I think I’ll be much happier when I don’t look like the twin of Ronald or Bozo even Nate draws me with big hair so I think I’ll surprise him.

What Time Is It?

Posted by: jude   in Mature Not Senile Misc

Time is something that we have so little of in this human existence and we worry so much about it. We are either trying to make or allocate time for something, finding ways to save time. Some of us feel like we are on borrowed time and some songs tell us that time is on our side, yes it is, remember that one? We even came up with day light saving time how ingenious.

I seem to be getting behind in all of my online activities. I never join in at forums anymore because I don’t have time for it and usually I have nothing to contribute even though I know that it’s a great way to get more visitors, but it does take up too much time that I need elsewhere and my time seems to be flying by like a whirlwind.

I really enjoy viewing most of the blogs I drop on through Entrecard and there are so many that I like to read so long as they hold my attention. I don’t always comment usually because I have nothing significant to say I know bloggers like to know that people are actually reading and would appreciate a comment, but surely they want more than hi I was here, nice blog.

I am guilty of not always replying to comments that are left for me, but I try just so the commenter knows that I really do appreciate the time they took to even bother to leave one and sometimes I will make a point to go to their blog and let them know that I appreciate it, but then again not always because of time constraints.

The time is now, but I haven’t figured out for what. Try to see how many times you say time in just one day, that’s always a fun exercise and will use up alot of useless time that you would probably waste anyhow. It’s time to get up, time to go to bed, time to eat, what time is it?, where did the time go?, time for work, time to play, it’s Howdy Doody time.

I was totally amazed how much time I found to say the word time, enough of my silliness, it is time for bed, Goodnight.

I’m Not Totally Sane

Posted by: jude   in Mature Not Senile Misc

When we get older we start doing some strange things, like I know it’s pointless to sit and worry about different situations that might come up and how I might deal with that situation when it does arise. What a waste of mind power when I have so little to waste, yet I find myself doing it all the time and I even have long drawn out conversations with myself playing two different parts and actually reacting to myself.

Hm… now let me see what is the name of this blog? Oh, yes I do believe it’s called Mature Not Senile mayhaps I will have to change the name to Not Totally Sane. Maybe I just like to be prepared in my mind for any topic of conversation or situation that might arise in the future and I like to be prepared and on top of it.

I guess I’ll decide which part I’ll take when and if that particular conversation or situation comes up. Okay enough of that. I actually worry sometimes if I’m in my right mind, but in this world of craziness I sometimes wonder if it really matters. What I deem as crazy seems to be perfectly acceptable as normal behavior for some of the people around me and vice versa.

When you read the paper and hear about some of the dumb crap that happens and how stupid people can forget their babies in a car and let them die or take a gun and shoot your whole family or a campus of young people or fight over 2 of the worse possible candidates for Presidency that ever ran then no wonder I prefer to have these 2 sided conversations with myself.

Low Hormone Levels Can Cause Weight Gain

Posted by: jude   in Senior Health

Most women dread getting old and do everything in their power to stop the aging process. Many resort to cosmetic procedures to keep that youthful look, but not everyone can afford botox and surgeries so we make do with anti aging creams and potions and they may help some, but not everyone has the same results. Then we have to contend with menopause and lower hormone levels that add extra fat to our bodies.

There’s so much information that can be found online about menopause and why we gain that extra weight and of course the main culprit is the lower hormone levels like estrogen which is the female sex hormone and when we go through menopause it stops us from ovulating. The body then tries to find other ways to get the estrogen supply and one way is through fat cells. Lower progesterone levels can cause water retention and bloating for some.

My poor old body has changed so much and I have always dreaded this time of life because I knew if I didn’t take hormone replacements that my body would be trying to convert calories into fat so it could get the estrogen it needs. The bad news is that fat cells aren’t as effective in burning calories so since I have slowed down and I’m not as active my metabolism is much slower.

Also when the testosterone hormone level goes down the body can’t produce as much lean muscle mass from the calories that are consumed and in turn there’s a gradual loss of muscle. Fat cells don’t burn as many calories as the muscle cells so the metabolism then slows down and burns calories much slower. Also the androgen levels (male sex hormone) usually increase causing that middle age spread around the abdomen.

Stress and developing insulin resistance will also make the body produce more fat cells during menopause. There is much literature that can be obtained from your doctor about all the changes that go on in your body. I know many people try using the synthetic or herbal remedies out there and some even swear by them. I have tried a few, but I really can’t say that they helped. Soy products I haven’t tried because I really don’t know if I can stand the smell or taste.

I am woman hear me roar, yep when I turned menopausal that’s definitely when I started roaring. Some women that I have spoke with have had very minor symptoms with menopause and others seem to have them all. I personally haven’t suffered many of the long list that I have read about on some of the forums, but I’ve had my share and I’ll certainly be much happier when it’s over.
