Eric's Pond And Jack Russell

Posted by: jude   in Home and Family

Eric and his young family are living in a converted barn right now and he has so many plans pertaining to the 10 acres of land he purchased in Kentucky before he was diagnosed and I don’t think he is going to let his illness stop him. He plans to build a house where the trees are on this little hill so he can look down on his pond.

When I wasn’t at the hospital with Eric I spent my time meditating and listening to the bullfrogs, crickets, different kinds of birds like the one that says bob white, bob white or at least that’s what it sounds like it says and watching and feeding his  ducks and watching the fish jump in and out of the water and it had a very calming effect on me.

One of the technicians that was administering his chemo was explaining to him that he had to watch being around children that are sick and bugs that can bite and cause easy infections and also warned against dog scratches and bites and immediately he thought he would have to get rid of his 7 month old Jack Russell, Chloe because she is very attached to him.

I decided to go to the pet store and look for boots for Chloe and the pictures below show her in her little boots. I don’t think they will work for very long because she’s very active and I had to go find them several times when she went outside, but I know they didn’t want to get rid of her permanently so hopefully they can train her to be careful around Eric and Ethan.

That land is very picturesque – a wonderful place for a house, although I wouldn’t put it right under those trees. My boss’s son had a tree get hit by lightening and it fell on his roof, crashing right throught it! I also had a tree that got struck by lightening fall on my first car which I parked way in back of our house. (Hey, that might make an interesting post.)

Hope they don’t have to get rid of the dog–those booties look pretty funny though. I seriously doubt if the dog will put up with them very long. Dogs are smart and trainable. Hopefully, the dog will be able to stay.

That’s a beautiful spot for a home! Working toward something wonderful is much better than just working… and Eric has a wonderful spirit and a loving family. Never give up!

Loving those boots on Chloe! ;)

Hi Karen and Pam thanks for stopping. I guess I’ll find out Chloe’s fate when we go back down in Sept. I don’t like to bother Eric with a lot of questions right now when I know he has so much on his mind.

I am still hopeful for a miracle.

That is a beautiful place for a house, though I wouldn’t be in a hurry to leave a converted barn. Those are great. The pond is nice, water is soothing. I’m glad you found a place to “be” with all that’s going on. And, I bet the dog stays. LOL Mine are very comforting to me, and I find that healing in itself. My thoughts are with you all.

Hi Theresa,
His plans are to turn the barn into a barbeque place with the pond as the backdrop and build his house on the hill so he can watch everything. He has a strong will and faith in God’s healing power so hopefully it will all work out. Thank-you so much for your thoughtful comment and all positive thoughts are much appreciated.

It’s good that he’s strong, and all his plans will keep him looking forward too. Don’t forget to take care of you too, ok?

That is just a beautiful piece of property! And it’s really great that despite his diagnosis he’s still going to go ahead with his plans. A strong will to live does wonders, I think, and he sure has a lot to live for.
I think if trained properly, the dog should be able to stay down and not scratch or nip your son, they could always bring her to a trainer if they can’t / don’t know how to do it themselves. Chloe will be a good and cheerful companion for all of them! :-)

Hi Carole,
I could see that Chloe was all excited about the baby and I know it would break their heart to have to part with her so I’m sure they will figure something out.

He certainly has always been strong willed even as a little boy and sometimes that made it very difficult to get along. Thanks for stopping.
