How Much More Can We The People Take?

Posted by: jude   in Home and Family

Where I live there has been a boom in scooter sales and I’m sure it’s that way across the country. You see all types of people using this economic way of transport to go back and forth to their jobs, even suits. The only problem will be when the weather turns cold and icy or when it’s raining or snowing. I know people will turn to their cars then, but at least by using their scooter most of the year they have been saving on gas.

I must not understand all the ramifications that may occur if we drill for oil in Alaska. I have always understood that there was plenty of oil right in our own backyard so why do we persist in buying it from other countries when we can be self sufficient unto ourselves. Our government seems to think the American people can and will withstand any crisis that comes along.

It’s appalling the way they spend our tax dollars and here again I have always been amazed at the way they will pay farmers for “Not” growing a particular crop on their farms. I simply don’t understand a lot of things apparently. I never understood why the ultra rich got so many tax breaks while the poor had to bear the burden. If you read the Bible, even way back then the poor were unduly taxed. We the poor people deserve a break.

Politicians have always reminded me of used car salesmen and we all know they have the reputation of being shysters. We want to see that silver lining that our politicians promise us, we want to believe and have faith for our future and the future of our children so why does everything look so bleak for that future?

I personally don’t listen to all the promises because they could promise me the moon to get elected, but that doesn’t mean that I’m going to get it when they get into office. We find corruption everywhere, but as far as I’m concerned I’m very suspicious of anyone that chooses politics as a career choice.

Yes, I know many people go into politics because they are idealistic and think they can bring about reforms and change for the betterment of all. You hear them tell us, my record stands for itself, read the records, many people actually do read the records and don’t like what they find and thank goodness they have no problem pointing out errors to the rest of us that simply can’t be bothered.

I have often wondered if my vote actually matters and I have come to the conclusion that while it might seem like it doesn’t and the majority will win out anyhow. It doesn’t really matter if I bother. I’ll just go with whatever is decided, my vote or yours could very well be the one that decides our fate. So read those records yourself and don’t rely on someone else’s opinion or be persuaded by a bunch of smooth talk.

Your vote matters decide for yourself!

I’m glad to hear that more people are using motorcycles and scooters as a means of transportation. I know in India, though there are a lot of cars, there’s more cyclists (even none motorized) and buses than in America. I think by believing the oil companies encouragements decades ago, we as a nation became spoiled (everyone having their own car was the norm when I was a kid) and have been reluctant to give up some of the niceties that’s fueled by oil, now that the oil companies had to admit that the supply wasn’t endless after all.

We can’t depend on our government to do everything that needs to be done. For some reason we look to government officials and hesitate to take action ourselves.

As far as our politicians, I think there is a wide gap between their policies and what is truly needed for the benefit of our country and its people. Which means that the average citizen has lost power to influence their elected officials.

An ideal might be to get rid of the lobbyists, but I don’t know how to stop a Senator’s pet project being used as payment among the senators and the White House for votes on bills. Isn’t doing that the same as bribery?
