We all love our “Stuff”, but do we know where it comes from and what it takes to get all that stuff into our hands? Everyone has become more conscious of how badly we have treated the earth we live on and all of the natural resources that we have destroyed along the way. Most people now try to conserve more energy and have made their homes energy compliant.

The government wants us to spend, spend, spend but as consumers I think we need to learn more about why they want us to spend and we should learn how to be more conservative in our consumption. I recently ran across a site that is called “The Story Of Stuff” and they have an excellent interactive video that is truly an eyeopener and every consumer should definitely view it, come on what’s 20 minutes out of your life?

Everyone is going green and trying to do their part. We are now more concerned with trying to protect our environment, but is it to late? I certainly hope not because we have made huge strides to clean up our waterways from big corporation dumping toxins into it even though there have been some disastrous occurrences over the past few years.

We are trying to save our forest and rainforest’s, but are we doing enough? For years the deforestation has been devastating and still is in some countries like Brazil which has declared a national emergency. You can read more about deforestation at Wikipedia. Most of us have cut down on our paper product consumption because of this, but there is still a long way to go.

We need to find alternative safe sources for everything in our life that we have taken for granted over the years. I’m sure there are better ways to conserve and prosper and with all of those intelligent people out there working together I’m sure they will find them before it’s too late. The video link above will help you see the exact process of how all your stuff gets into your hands, please watch.

Definitely mind blowing. I’ll share it with my husband. It’s so interesting how we’re bent on destroying the very things we say we love. Thanks for sharing this.

soooo exciting to see the Story of Stuff video spreading across the web! I hope you’ll join me and over 7500 other bloggers on October 15 with a Blog Action Day post about poverty. This discussion is so important – I’ve really been enjoying your posts on the economy and would love to read your perspectives on 15 oct. All the best – C
