I dont have any extended family--except my grown children and thankfully we are all close--if not by miles at least by love and keeping in touch. My own mother alienated herself from her parents families and so when I grew up and started a family of my own, we were already estranged. My mom did a lot of damage to our family (mostly to me)--including the relationship I had with my brother--that can never be healed. Now no one in the wolrd wants to bother with her, and I am the only one left to care for her now that she is ill. I spend a lot of time agonizing over what could have been and what actually is. I have a lot of resentment. In conclusion I'd just like to say I think there is something seriously and fundamentally wrong with folks who can cut family out of there lives. And what's worse, it's easily passed onto the next generation if someone isnt wise enough to stop it. I wish you had a closer family.
