Will The World Become Totally Blended?

Posted by: jude   in Home and Family

Don’t you just love our new usage of the word blended since Obama was elected? We are now referring to bi-racial children as blended it’s not just for step-families any more. What happens to prejudice when the whole world becomes blended? From what they predicted on TV we are certainly headed in that direction in the future because more people are becoming color blind, they are looking at the inside instead of the outer side.

I am reminded of a German girl I once knew that lived with a black man whom she professed to love. I hadn’t seen her for a couple years then when I did we talked and I congratulated her on her pregnancy. She became very indignant and said she wasn’t pregnant just fat that she planned on keeping her race pure. I was aghast at that statement and thought she could have simply explained that she was wearing a maternity top for other reasons.

I come from a blended background with Cherokee and Irish on my Mother’s side and I really can’t say about my Father’s side because I was never really interested enough about that side to find out. I would say that the majority of people are blended to a certain degree, but not in the new usage way of the word blended as pertaining to bi-racial. I always hated the word half-breed because it was used so derogatorily.

It’s funny I don’t see Obama as black, white, or blended I simply see him as the President and in my mind he will be judged by what he gets accomplished not the color of his skin.

I know what you mean, when he was elected and all the news was talking about him being the first African American president, I was like, “Oh, yea, I didn’t think of that.” It just hadn’t occurred to me to make his race an issue.

I agree wholeheartedly, I don’t see him as bi, black, or person of color in those terms. Yes he is a person of color, or whatever is politically correct these days. I do see it as, super, we have a person of color as President. He needs to be viewed from the inside as said, and rated on capabilities, ambitions, and performance. Hopefully as a person “of Color”, it will help with the racial undertones in the world. I guess what I am trying to say is, I hope our new President can get the job done. PERIOD

Blended? What a terrific use of the word. It covers all aspects of families. Just love it. And totally agree about Mr Obama; never thought of the race thing.

I’ve been saying for years that we will all be the same color or “shades” in the future. I think it would be nice to live in a world that was all blended and no hatred for differences.

So many of us are of mixed decent; I’m glad things are finally getting away from branding people by their ancestry and we can accept people as people – period.

Part of what makes humans so wonderfully varied is that we are all blended. Some people have more blending than others. Mine is a mostly Northern European blend.

It’s a great thing. I think it promotes what they call ‘hybrid vigor’ in biology.

The tough part is, when you are biracial/blended, the white community has a tough time accepting you AND the black community as well. It works both ways.

I heard a guy give a speech one time, and he would pass for a black person, yet was biracial. He said as a child, he was an outcast in both the white and black world.

I only heard the term blended very recently as applied to families and find it so appropriate for so many situations.

As for Obama being black and voters not thinking about it, I think THAT right there is the significant thing… American society has evolved socially over the past 50 years from having a very distinct race line to one where many ordinary voters don’t even consider it. It’s in that historical sense that I think it is extraordinary the USA now has a black president.
