Thank God For Extroverts

Posted by: jude   in Home and Family

Bill certainly has a way with people and can talk to anyone he is very much the extrovert. I on the other hand really don’t have much to say. I never was good at chit chat except when I was working and I had to be outgoing if I wanted to make those tips, but that was never really me. Basically Bill is the only real person in my life who really knows me and then the people that read the thoughts I share on my blogs.

I always have a problem when visitors come to my house because I’m not a very social person. That’s why I love having Bill around because he’s so good at entertaining people and I’m quite happy to let him have the spot light. I just listen to his tales and laugh at the same stories I’ve heard a zillion times because they’re still funny. When we have to call a service person to fix something I feel very jittery around them especially if I’m home alone.

I never know what to say to them or if I’m suppose to stay in the room while they do their job or go elsewhere and do what I need to get done. Am I suppose to let them use my bathroom or offer them refreshments while they work? I don’t know them and I certainly don’t want their germs, I have enough of my own. How do I know they aren’t a kleptomaniac and wont swipe one of Bill’s treasures? He has all of his Vietnam and Harley stuff on display.

Last night Bill called Comcast because the TV keeps breaking up and acts weird at times. They said they would send a cable guy between 10 and 11, but they were suppose to call first before they came so I could call Bill at work because he wanted to be here thank God he knows how I feel and he can take time away from his job whenever. The cable guy didn’t call first so that ticked me off and I was kind of at a loss for words when he just showed up.

I called Bill as quick as I could find the number and he was here within 5 minutes, again thank goodness because I had no clue what to tell this guy or do. This young man is huge and Bill is downstairs right now helping him with the wire. It seems Bill has been with this cable company for over 30 years and no one has ever been out to fix the wires or make sure they were grounded so they have been hard at it for an hour and a half.

I hope the cable guy gets finished before Bill goes back to work because then I’ll be stuck with him and wont be able to get any drops or other work done. At least Shadow is quiet and I can get this post finished while Bill is home. Sounds like Bill and this young man have already bonded by all the chit chat and laughing I hear from downstairs. I have no clue if splitters are acceptable, but we have 3 TVs of course we only get basic on 2 and all the premium channels on the main one. I would like to get Direct TV because I’m sure it would be cheaper.

Update On Shadow: The bed we made for Shadow works great for me, but occasionally he likes to feel like he isn’t in prison so we put his blanket and pads on the floor. Bill is making him a small table floor level with sides and rollers and we’re going to get some kind of strap to make sure he is secure and see if he will try to walk. He has to have some kind of exercise besides me working his legs for him and hopefully this will do the trick.

I was trying to move my dog around this morning so he wouldn’t be in the cable guys way when he got here and my hands slipped off the blanket and I fell backwards really hard on my tail bone. I thought holy crap now Bill will be taking care of both us, but thank goodness I was able to get up and move although it’s sore as all get out, probably just a bruise, but at least I know how my poor little Shadow feels now.

I had to comment on this, because I broke my tailbone after such a fall. The doctor put me on bed rest for six weeks.

I don’t know if they still do that now, as this happened during my childhood. (We won’t discuss how long ago that was hahaha.

So if the soreness doesn’t leave in a reasonable period of time or if you notice stiffness along with the soreness when you first start to move around, I would suggest going to have it checked just to be on the safe side.

Wishing you all the best with much love

Lea

HI Carol. Thanks for the update on Shadow – poor soul. Hope you don’t have any delayed ill effects from your fall. I’ve nominated you for an award. (I find it’s quite hard work to respond to these so I don’t mind if you don’t take it up.) But do visit my blog to check it out.

Hi Lea ,
Thanks for the information about the tail bone. I’m a little more mobile so long as I keep moving, but it’s very sore. If it starts to stiffen then I’ll seek some sort of medical advice. I really do think Shadow must have done the same thing when he fell and it’s stiffened up even with steroids or it’s a pinched nerve….Take care Lea you are one of the nicest bloggers out there.

Hi Jakill,
I answer to almost anything. My name is Judy, but my friends call me Jude. I have lots of friends called Carol so it’s not an insult, but if I’m ever called Linda I’d probably never type at you again.

Skip the DTV…I have it and hate it. I can ‘t wait till we get Verizon or Comcast. You are subject to the mercies of weather , sun and anything else that’s in the atmosphere.

I’m not really happy when people come to my house either, Jude. It makes me feel exposed. I think it comes from thinking of home as away from the rest of the world, my retreat, and I don’t much care for the times the rest of the world comes knocking! I feel weird, and I’m sure I act weird…

Well, my name IS Carol! :) I could really identify with your dilemma about the service people. I really don’t want to chit chat with them either, and I absolutely hate it when they want to use my bathroom. They need to take care of that before they arrive at my house. I sure hope you don’t have a broken tail bone Jude. Thanks so much for visiting my blog today and leaving a comment.

We have Direct TV and LOVE it! Haven’t had any real problem with it and like the extra channels and sports packages (Sunday Ticket & Center Ice).

As far as the service people coming, I usually get them started and go do whatever I want. I am not one for chit chat either and I certainly don’t feel I have to entertain them.
