I Wish I Was An Innovator

Posted by: jude   in Home and Family

I have always loved watching the HGTV channel and seeing all the new products that people are inspired to engineer and create and would love to have everything I see because they’re so cool, but I’ll settle for what we have and be grateful that we even have a roof over our head and food to eat. I can dream all I want because it’s fun to just imagine. My imagination use to be better than it is now though because I could cut pictures of toys out of a magazine and pretend they were real.

I wish I had a technical mind and could think up innovative ideas, I’d be rich. Technology is changing the world we live in rapidly and I simply can’t keep up. I wonder what our world will be like in 20 years, hopefully I’ll be around to see all the changes. Everything is so fast paced now I can only imagine or maybe not, all the changes we will see. I remember way back when the idea of talking to someone far away and viewing that person at the same time was laughed at, but we can certainly do it now.

A technical mind questions everything and needs answers, but people like me sometimes just take things for granted and never think to inquire and one of those is turning on a faucet and having hot water come out of a spigot. Of course I now know that you need a hot water tank to hold water and it has a heating element underneath to keep it hot. So I’m totally amazed how smart people are and how they can improve on a product and come up with innovative ideas to make a system like a tankless water heater.

I did a search to find out how they work and was very impressed because they are more energy efficient than the tanks, they run over coils. There is no standby heat loss or energy wasted so in the long run they would be more economical. I would say all the newer built houses come with these installed, but older houses like ours would have to upgrade, but that’s out of our budget range for right now. Our first priority would have to be replacing all the wiring and definitely pouring that basement.

I also would love one of those tankless water heaters as I live in a manufactured home and our water heater is in the back of the bedroom closet. Which means…everytime something goes wrong with it, I have to empty out the closet to get to the water heater cubby. Anyway…the tankless ones are expensive, but I know several people that have them and love them. The element doesn’t rust out because there is no water standing on it all the time. Oh well–in my next house. Dream on.
