I don’t think people are getting any worse then they were 20 years ago. They just have new tools available to them. And population density is also worse.

And in our new age of communication its alot easier to hear about these sorts of things.

I covered criminal court a few months ago. One case was a sex offender who failed to register his correct living address. His lawyer asked me to go easy on him because it was something he did years and years ago and he’s really a ‘good guy.’ Turns out he video taped teenagers having sex. Really good guy? His case was the first one I mentioned in my story, that ran above the fold on the front page.

And this is the reason I have the agreement to leave work each day at 2:00 pm to drive my daughter home each day. For some reason, the 1 mile walk past sex offenders homes doesn't register as "dangerous route" for the school to provide bus service. I also fought the school board for years to put teacher institute days on voting days to get the kids out of the school--they held the voting right in the gym/lunchroom where the youngest population of students ate. They were in the same room as the general public and the school saw no problem with that. Any sex offender could have walked in and has his jollies for the day looking at all those children. It is a scary world and I think having guns in the house is just asking for trouble--sorry hunters. I loved reading about the 70-yr. old woman who fought off the robbers with a 5 qt. sauce pan. She hit one of the four on the head with it! They got her riled up when they emptied her purse!
