The Recession Is My Fault

Posted by: jude   in Home and Family

Bill is addicted to infomercials and products that he sees advertised I think that I mentioned that before. One year I got him the Magic Bullet and he made a few milk shakes with it and now it’s no longer in use. For his birthday he mentioned he wanted the NuWave and for 2 weeks he wanted to cook everything on it, which he did and now it’s no longer in use. For Christmas we got Jack Lalanne’s power juicer and we have used it once and now it just sits there.

All of these things he watched over and over on infomercials and thought how cool they were and had to have them, but then for whatever reason when we get them they don’t always work the same. I use to do the same thing with the products at the fair when they would have demonstrations all that stuff looked so cool and so easy to use that I always whipped out the credit card and bought everything. When I would try to use the products like I had seen them do they simply didn’t produce the same results.

Nothing ever comes out looking like the food stuff shown on television and those product demonstrations that I see with my own eyes never work for me. I simply don’t get it do these people go to school to learn how to dupe people or is it just me? Why do these things work for some and not everyone? Kind of reminds me of those old gambling games they use to have at the fair, but are now banned. Those guys made winning look so easy and of course being the idiot that I was I always had to try for myself, guess what? I no longer fall for any of that stuff.

I have gotten to the point that I actually spend very little any more, no wonder we are having a recession I stopped spending.

Your Bill and my mom would have been great friends! She loved QVC. A shake maker was delivered the day she died! It was the comic relief that day…she just couldn’t get enough QVC.

Well, thank Heavens, we now know who to blame! Certainly Congress, political leaders, business leaders, were not taking any of it. You are very brave for stepping up to the plate! Surely, if you would just start buying some more of those hot QVC items, the Dow Jones average would spike overnight!

I thought it was me! I was Hiding. Now I’m relieved. Stopped falling for those infomercials and QVC is on my Ban List. I have given them way to much money. Stop all my buying.I can now open a Store. Problem is no Buyers.

My husband was the same way, would want just about anything he saw on an infomercial. I had to restrict him from watching those when he was traveling on business because he would order stuff. Drove me nuts!

Don’t you think part of the goal for those informercials is to see if they can sell something….anything? I do. I think they see some piece of crap and decide to take on the challenge to see if they can sell it. Kind of a game. And the buyer loses. My neighbor buys all kinds of crud from QVC–I see her boxes almost daily.

This reminds me of when my son was little. He would come running out of his bedroom saying “MOM – MOM – Guess what you can get for just 3 easy payments of….” LOL I called him my infomercial kid. Thank goodness I didn’t fall for much of it. ;-)

Hi Jude

My late brother in law was the same way. He had to have all the gadgets and whatnots, but once he had them, they soon started gathering dust.

Sounds like Bill is the kind of guy who just finds it hard to say ‘no,’ bless him.

You can always have a garage/yard sale :)

That punchline was so funny!

But I don’t blame you tho. They really make it look like it was the best d*ngest thing that’s ever been invented. Only to find out it’s just a marketing hoax.

One question, do you have the shamwell?
