My Must Watch Television Programs

Posted by: jude   in Mature Not Senile Misc

Do the programs we like to watch on television tell the type of people we are and how our minds work? I’m sure a therapist could probably uncover quite a bit. Of course 2 of my all time favorites were “Twilight Zone” and “Outer Limits” the way those shows were made and the concepts always fascinated me and really made me think what if ? I guess that’s why a few in my list below fascinate me and the others just entertain me. Do you ever wonder what the people you know are watching and talking about? Bill and and I have very different taste and he thinks my choices are weird like “Fringe” which comes back on in April.

What programs are my must watch on television? Sunday, I watch “Big Love”, Monday= “Heroes” and “Medium”, Tuesday= “American Idol”,  Wednesday= ” Lie To Me”, “American Idol”, and “Life On Mars”, Thursday= “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Private Practice” and then I’m done for the week. I never watch television during the day and when reruns start then I don’t bother at all unless Bill wants me to watch Leno with him and tonight I’ll watch to see Obama with Leno. Why in the world he is going to be on there is beyond me. I also watch “Orange County Choppers” when it’s on, but it hasn’t been on in awhile which really ticks Bill off.

I like Orange County Choppers too. Don’t laugh but there was a geocache right by their old shop, and I don’t know if it’s still there, but we found a geocache in the parking lot of their new “showroom” too. We walked around inside the new shop, it was pretty cool, got to see a couple of bikes, but we didn’t see any of the people from the show.

Wonder what a therapist would make of my choices. Love “Top Chef”, “Chopped” and “Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares”, but I don’t like cooking! I like “America’s Next Top Model”, “Project Runway” and “Make Me A Supermodel” and I’m a short, overweight housewife! LOL Hmmm, I just realized those are all “reality” shows. Guess I prefer someone else’s reality to my own?! Honestly though, I’m fascinated by chefs who can take a few products and create a feast. How do they do that? As for the model shows, they make me laugh. The characters that always end up on them, where do they find them?! I’ve watched “American Idol” many times, but enjoy “So You Think You Can Dance” much, much more.

I’m with Anna–I like a lot of the same shows she does. It seems that I am drawn to reality TV, lame as it is. I like the personalities and the scheming and plotting. Life is like that a lot and I admire those that can win. In those situations, I’d be voted off early on.

I love shows were they have to do something–like Project Runway or Top Chef. I love Gordan Ramsay, because he can swear like the dickens, but then he can be so compasionate. I find the human psyche very interesting.

The thing I cannot stand is the CSI’s with all the gruesome death –why do all the commercials have to show that crap? It disgusts me and scares the little children. And it is on prime time!!

Well, you and I are in agreement over most of Wednesday. Yeah for “Lie to Me” and “Life on Mars.” I can’t believe they’re cancelling “Life on Mars.” It’s a great show!

I wonder what it says about me that I haven’t bothered watching TV in ages.

Watch most of the show you do. My list does tend to change. Mostly because the writers get weird sometimes. A lot of mine tend to get canceled.I can never figure that one out. I really like Life on Mars. My list: Medium, KnightRider(newone),The Mentalist,Lies,NCIS,House, Smallville and Ghost Whispers. Some reruns I will watch, occasionally I might catch one I haven’t seen. As far as late night, asleep usually by 10:30(on the couch watching TV through shut eyes):-)

Like some others, I don’t watch a lot of TV; can’t stand many of the newer shows. Do enjoy COPS, The Honeymooners, Lucy, Animal Planet. Turn it off at night. I like classical music so listen to the radio at times but have noticed that I don’t care to keep “noise” going like before. Can’t abide Dr Phil or the current “reality” shows. In Sept. I’ll be 71, am still active and overall healthy. my little dog Cocoa keeps me active. Glad I found you on surfing the web–love my computer!
