We're Going To Get A Trike This Week

Today we put a roast in the crock and took a bike ride down to Long Level and watched the boats and people fishing. It looked like it was going to rain, but we went anyway and it was fine. We had a very nice ride even though it was cloudy.

Yesterday we went to Weinbrenner in Hanover and took the trike shown below out for a ride, this was our first ever trike demo. The guys were very nice and even gave me a helmet to use so I could test ride it with Bill. It was very strange and the back end sways a lot I told Bill it felt like I was in a boat and I might get sea sick.

I want Bill to get a trike so we can ride up into our 80′s so if he’s going to do it, it might as well be now while he can afford it before he retires. I really expected to have a smoother ride though since there is 3 wheels instead of 2, but it wasn’t it was the worse ride I have ever been on, but I didn’t tell Bill that.

Tomorrow he will talk to his credit union and the bank and Tuesday they open back up so I guess he’ll make the arrangements then before someone else snatches it up. I know he really wants it, but it was so funny because riding a 2 wheeler compared to a 3 wheeler is very different and something he will have to get use to.

You do not have to put your feet down when coming to a stop, plus you do not have to maneuver the bike to turn where you want it with your balance instead all you do is turn the front end, but that’s hard to get into a bikers head. You do not lean all you do is turn the front wheel, he was so afraid he was going to drop it.

When we left Winebrenner we went way across into the other lane because he was trying to turn it with his weight instead of simply turning the handle bars it was so funny, thank God a car wasn’t careening down the other lane. I know those guys watching were a nervous wreck thinking Oh, God did we really let those people take that out.

He did manage to get it in the right lane and off we went for our demo ride. This man has been riding bikes since he was 15, but a 3 wheeler is totally different you can not use the same technique as a regular bike. I know we will need lots of practice, but I know he’ll get the hang of it in no time, but it was funny watching him lean.

Usually when he leans with the bike so do I, but I was staying straight up and so was the bike only he was twisting from side to side trying to make the trike do the same as a bike and with 3 wheels it wasn’t going any where. I figure Wednesday or Thursday we’ll bring it home. They are going to switch over our air horn and running boards.

I love the seat we have on this bike and I hate the one on the trike, it’s so hard, but I guess I’ll break it in eventually. I dread it though and I may even need a seat belt with all the swaying side to side I may fall off the stupid thing. Oh, well a new experience is in store for Bill and I and anything that will give us more years to enjoy what we love doing is fine with me.

Grandparent Day With Nate

Posted by: jude   in Mature Not Senile Misc

I took a few photo’s of Nate day and he was so excited to have his Pappy there.

I didn’t get anything accomplished online yesterday because we spent the day with Nate. First we went for Garandparents day and all the little kids did a show for us then we were expected to go to the classroom so they could give us the presents they had made and recite their little poems that they had worked so hard to memorize. We were then able to leave and take our Grandchildren with us if we chose to do so and had permission from the parents.

Nate goes to a church school where all the doors are locked it’s kind of like Fort Knox which is good and these children are well guarded and protected from perverts which I know is a relief for many parents. Bill worries about Nate though because he’s afraid when and if he ever goes to public school that he’ll have a hard time fitting in. There are only 6 children in his first grade class and 5 of them are girls so these children really do get the teachers undivided attention and they are all so smart. I went to a church school for 2 years and I hated it.

From my own experience I know that private schools are much harder than public schools. I was always a bad student to start with and didn’t pay attention in school. I always made C’s and D’s in private school and A’s and B’s in public not paying attention at either. Nate’s a good little guy and makes good grades we don’t get to spend that much time with him so yesterday was a special day. It was too late to go for our bike ride till his Daddy picked him up, but we all had an enjoyable day so that was okay. We’ll make up for it today since it’s so beautiful outside.

I Want A Wii

Posted by: jude   in Pappy and Nana

Tomorrow is Grandparents day at Nate’s school and Bill is taking the day off so we can attend, afterwards since it will be nice we plan to ride the bike, I can’t wait. It’s been rainy and cold the last couple days, but it’s nice now and the sun is shining bright. Everyone is so busy with their own lives that we don’t get to spend much time together.

When we were over for Easter dinner Nate wanted to play the Wii with his Pappy. I think it’s so cute how you can make all those little people, but the only one that really looks like any of us is Pappy. Jodie said Nate always uses the Pappy figure when they play together, that little boy really loves his Pappy and wants to be just like him. He showed us Pappy riding the cow and it cracked us all up.

Pappy got to be himself so Nate had to use his own image which he didn’t like. They changed my hair and color so it would look like me now, I didn’t play because I didn’t take my glasses. They played tennis, boxed and then everyone had fun bowling, Bill really likes the bowling. We’re talking about getting one for ourselves so we can play together, should be fun and give us something different to do together.

Tonight I take Sadie for her shots and it’s always a big hassle getting her ready and getting her in the Jeep. She jumps around like crazy and makes noises like a monkey the whole time. Till I get to the Vet and home again I’m a nervous wreck, thank goodness it’s only once a year. I love my pets, but these two will be my last and I have loved sharing my life with them.

Till the next time have a good one.

Last week I downloaded and installed the free Avast antivirus program on my computer and I really like it. When I work I have the pc on mute and I don’t have music on or watch television because I like the quiet. When I take a break I go on the balcony to watch the little birds that have returned and reflect on some of my memories. One day I was deep in thoughts talking to God and I heard a voice coming from inside I thought I was going nuts hearing voices.

I went inside with some trepidation to see if Bill had returned home from work or if there was some supernatural power waiting for me, there was nothing so I returned to my work thinking I was actually losing it. After about an hour a blue box popped up from the bottom and a man’s voice started talking it scared the bejebbies out of me. Mystery solved with hearing voices, apparently my mute was set to off and I didn’t know the Avast program came with audio.

He likes to inform me when the program has been updated and when there is a threat, it reminds me of the “Danger Will Robinson” robot. Even though I’d like to converse with the other side I think I would be a little bit scared so I really had to laugh at myself. Some times my imagination runs away with me, but usually I find a plausible explanation. I really like believing in magic and what I can’t see and always hate when the secrets are revealed to me even though I really want to know.

On another note my spam has been pretty bad lately with half page comments and a zillion links within each one so if you left a message and it doesn’t show up here then somehow it got mixed up in the spam and I have been deleting without looking at those lately. I’m very sorry if that happened because I normally publish all comments whether good or bad so long as they aren’t just spam comments. Usually if there aren’t many in Akismet I glance through to make sure I don’t throw them away.

Stimulate The Brain For Better Memory

Posted by: jude   in Senior Health

I try to exercise my brain and keep it active and stimulated so I can improve my memory. I know that eating Omega3 fatty acids like flax/hemp seeds and fish will give the brain a boost of energy and plenty of fruits and vegetables especially blueberries provide antioxidants that rid the body of toxins. Processed foods should be avoided as much as possible and limit intake of caffeine and liquor, sugary drinks should be replaced with green tea and water, exercise and plenty of rest also keeps the brain in good working order.

I know all these things, but some I don’t follow like I should especially now that I’m older. Many need to take supplements because when our body lacks essential vitamins and nutrients it’s harder to stay focused. It also affects our mood and the actions we take throughout the day. When we eat the right foods our mind will also be healthier and you can concentrate better with less stress. You should never skip breakfast, it doesn’t have to be a huge heavy breakfast which would make the brain and body sluggish just something light will do.

The older I get the more I simply want to take a nap right after I eat and that’s not good. I’ve been trying to find other ways to stimulate my mind because it’s frustrating when I can remember what happened 30 years ago as opposed to something just last year. That’s why I started blogging because writing helps to stimulate the brain because it’s a good way to clear your mind and put things into perspective, it’s also therapeutic and helps reduce stress. Today I got more concerned about my memory and decided I better take further actions to make sure I start writing every transaction in a ledger that I get involved with online.

I decided I must be losing my mind and memory because today I received an e-mail for a program I must have bought a year or so ago and it was set for auto renewal. I must have given the information because it was deducted from my checking account. Of course I sent an e-mail to cancel and request a refund because I honestly don’t even remember using the program, now that’s bad. If I ever purchase anything else online I need to make sure I have it set for manual renewal and not auto renewal and keep a record.

I have also recently set all my domain names to manual renewal because I had forgotten that they were also set for auto renewal and I had planned on letting them just expire, but payment for them also went through and I was thinking what if I hadn’t had the money in the bank at that time. Hopefully I haven’t purchased any other programs that I may have forgotten about that will auto renew because my money supply is definitely getting low and I’d hate to pay bank charges apparently I’m not as organized as I thought I was.

Neurobics is something I’ve been looking into, if your not familiar with the term just do a Google search.
