I have a big gripe with men that insist on having long hair and don’t wash it and especially those that go to a salon or barber and haven’t even bothered to wash it beforehand. That was one of the main reasons I quite working in a salon because I couldn’t stand to touch their greasy smelly pungently repulsive heads. Some were so gross that it was hard not to gag and just throw up on them.

When I was in beauty college I was assigned some guy that came in and apparently he worked as a cook in a greasy restaurant and that was the most gross smell in the world and just remembering that awful head actually makes me cringe and to this day I can still smell that head and get physically sick. I washed his head about 5 times with the strongest stuff I could find while holding my breath as much as possible.

I didn’t know at the time that I could have refused him service. There is nothing worse than smelling greasy dirty garlicky yucky crap oozing from someones scalp and pores….still cringing….yuck. Over the years I had banked that experience down until I was crammed into an elevator with 16 other people last week and the huge man with a ponytail was pushed in front of me, oh my God there was that same odor and I was trapped with it, I thought I was going to pass out.

I held my breath until we were let off that elevator and I thought I was going to throw up or faint it was the smell from hell. I so pitied the poor people that were forced to sit on either side of him. We were forced to ride the elevator up, but you can believe everyone decided to take the steps down except him. Please if you work around grease and pungent odors wash your damn hair and bath before you go out you could be toxic and cause asthma attacks or worse, now I remember why I like to be alone.

No Harley Trike Till The Weekend

Posted by: jude   in Harley Seniors

We are trikeless at the moment we had to take it to Laugerman Harley Davidson because the belt is too tight and riding it like it is could mess up the bearings and it could possibly snap while riding. Of course we didn’t have any reason to check that when we bought it 2 weeks ago, luckily we went to a Champion trike kit dealer because we were looking for hand grips for it and the guy decided to pick it apart because we hadn’t waited and purchased one from him.

At least we found out about that before we did some real damage so hopefully it will be fixed by the weekend so we can ride. Bill also decided to have the Screaming Eagle stage 1 kit added so it’ll get better performance, but we’ll lose gas mileage. He really liked that in the Harley Dresser we traded in. This makes 2 things so far that haven’t been right since we bought it. The first was the voltage regulator 4 days after we had it, I certainly hope we don’t find any more things wrong.

In the near future Bill is going to get these armrests for me since I don’t have the hand rails or whatever they’re called it should make it a lot more comfortable on long trips and they swing out so they don’t interfere when you mount and dismount. Last week he moved the tour pack back about an inch because it was pressing into my back and now it’s so much more comfortable to ride. I’m really glad we got the trike and even Bill is happy with it we even ride more now because it’s easier in traffic. Bill still says he feels like a sissy sometimes.

I heard on the news last night that the Harley Plant in York may be closing down and moving elsewhere now that would be a real shame. They’ve already laid off quite a few and so many other companies in our area have shut down. Even Bill’s company has put their employee’s on part time it’s getting really scary. Bill’s Son works at a place that makes metal skids for Harley and there are only 3 left in his division. He said his company might move him out of state, I certainly hope it doesn’t come to that.

I spent the morning outside doing yard work and my back is starting to pull so I need to go soak it. I’ll try to get some other stuff done online a bit later so you all have a great one.

I Spent Mother's Day Being Grateful

Posted by: jude   in Home and Family

We were up early yesterday morning and I spent some time reflecting on my life and how grateful I am for everything in it. I at least had my Son for almost 39 years and now have a wonderful little grandson even though I don’t get to see him much because of the distance and I have lots of memories that many don’t.

We babysat Bill’s two grandbabies while daddy went to church and then to the hospital to pick up Jodi. We are all grateful that Jodi pulled through because the doctor said she was very lucky, if the ectopic pregnancy had been an inch lower when it ruptured it would have busted a certain vein and she would have died.

I was so grateful to see her pretty little face and to know she would be able to spend Mother’s Day with her two children even though she can’t lift her baby at all for several weeks. We were very saddened to know that she lost a baby that apparently they had wanted, but I’m thanking God for sparing her life. We thought they weren’t going to have anymore so we were surprised.

I’m grateful that Bill didn’t have to suffer losing his little girl, she’s 38, but she’s still daddy’s little girl. We then stopped by Walmart and I picked up some pretty weeds to plant so Bill went to the grocery store while I happily planted and then we went for a bike ride and I enjoyed looking at God’s country and felt quite peaceful, before going home we stopped to visit his Mother’s resting place.

I think this will be the roughest year for me, but I now know because of all the things I’m grateful for and the love of God I’ll be fine and he will give me many more things to be grateful for. Thanks so much for the thoughts and hugs they also helped.

Happy Mother's Day

My First Mother’s Day Without Him

The little vase with a red rose and the plaque were given to me by my Son when he was 17 and are two of the very few things he ever gave me for Mother’s Day the rest of the years turned into cards and phone calls which were fine, but those two little gifts have always meant a lot to me and are now 22 years old. His birthday is the 19th of this month and he would have been 39. Happy Mother’s Day to everyone.

I got derailed yesterday because of Jodi so I will finish this jury selection post quick because I’m tired of the whole deal. We were ushered into the jury assembly room where almost 300 people looked for places to sit and I hate feeling crowded so I tried to leave a seat on either side of me, but they got taken very quickly and I felt like I was smothering. We were shown a film on the process and the court clerk talked to us and then a judge there were two guards at all times to keep the masses under control, but they were actually nice little old ladies.

They started pulling panels right away and I was on the first one so it broke the monotony they make you feel like you’re in first grade and take attendance and then when they call you for the panel they line you up like little kids and it’s very precise and you must be in the order you’re called so the diagram lines up for the lawyers so when they pick their jury they already how you think because of the questionnaire that you filled out beforehand.

You’re ushered into the court room and you must be seated in the right order so you can be ogled and judged if you will make a sympathetic juror for their side. You must stand and take an oath as a group then you’re addressed by the judge and then both lawyers ask the panel questions, if you answer a question you must state your juror number first and speak loudly so everything can be in the transcripts, they then make their selection back and forth between lawyers then they call their picks for the jury.

Everyone must then go back to the jury assembly room to wait to be called for another panel apparently some of the cases were over before they got started because the criminal cases were basically open and shut and many of the people that had been picked for the jury were back within a few hours to be thrown back into the jury pool. Ignorant me thought if you were pulled for a panel or sat on a jury you would then be released, but in fact you have to stay for the week and be used over and over.

Some people were selected for several different cases. I think they should pick 84 people from all those called and release everyone else because it seemed like they just kept calling the same ones anyhow for all the cases and the others were just wasting their time. At the end of the 3rd day I had enough and my nerves were shot so I talked to one of the clerks and explained about my Shadow and how he needed me to take care of him so they were nice and dismissed me.

I couldn’t take another day I was ready to rip my hair out, I had managed to remove myself from the rowdy crowd of women that were having a blast on the second day and move all the way across the room by the window and seclude myself. I would have made a lousy juror anyhow. They pay 9 dollars a day and if you’re there on the 4th and 5th day it goes up to 25 dollars and 35 cents per mile traveled back and forth.

Only 3 people at a time can take a 10 minute break, 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon and you have to use a hall pass, I did notice that several people took more breaks and some even longer than the 10 minutes and an hour for lunch. Everyone had formed their little groups and they all acted like they had assigned seats and were suppose to sit in the same place day after day, it was so weird.  I realized that I am definitely not a people person any more and the strain of those 3 days really took a toll. Definitely the end!!
