Live In The Now? What About Tomorrow?

Posted by: jude   in Home and Family

When we’re young many of us really don’t think about the future or plan for it. We dream about the future of course, but we always think we have time. Even though it’s a good idea to live in the now, tomorrow usually comes for most of us and the way time passes it’s usually always sooner than you think. For most of us we live week to week and have a really hard time even saving money for an emergency. So what do we do? We’ve either had to borrow money or whip out the credit card and it seems like once you’re in debt it just snowballs.

I know 2 brothers that bought their houses around the same time almost 37 years ago, one paid 16,000 and the other paid 18,000. The brother that paid the smaller price worked very hard and diligently to pay his home off and take care of his family. He made less money than the older brother, but he managed to pay all his bills on time and eventually worked his way up in the company he worked for. His family never had the best of anything, but they had enough and now he only has to pay property and school taxes yearly and make repairs.

The older brother even though he made a lot of money never managed to pay off his house in fact they now owe well over 150,000 dollars or more on that house and complains that he can’t afford to retire even though he’s sick. His family had to have the best of everything and the wife was always flashing big diamond rings and driving expensive cars and the wardrobe was always the best. Instead of cleaning the carpet when it got soiled it was nothing to them to rip it out and go buy new. They were young and had the world by the tail.

People have a hard time living within their means so it’s no wonder everyone is so stressed with the economy the way it is now. I really have a hard time when I hear the news about people losing their jobs and homes and instead of trying to find a way they decide to kill their family and then themselves. We the people created this world of scarcity and we can change it, if we only see the bad in every situation then that is exactly what we are going to attract. I do believe in the law of abundance and if you think positively and see the positive then that is what you will attract, but that’s another post.

This is so true! When the entire society is encouraging everyone to spend, spend, spend, it’s really hard to go against the flow–but some of us have.

so, so true! We have always lived within our means. So many friends complain about having to work another job just to make those payments. Payment for things that they add to house loans, Now their house is not worth the amount . We have never refinanced for more money. We do not carry balances on Cards. We Put money in savings and retirements accounts. I learned very early in life, management is everything.

It’s like the ant and the grasshopper fable. Unfortunately, my husband and I are grasshoppers….

Too many people live that way. I’ve had more relatives ask “When are you going to get a bigger house?” and now we are glad for our little place. When Joe’s job was in jeaopardy, we weren’t worried about the mortgage payment–it was the COBRA that was going to break us. Go figure.

If you still have double clicking of mouse, it is because of virus only. I used AVG free version antivirus and my problem was solved. Just make a try for your system.

I agree with Patricia. This economy type is only good when it’s good. Delayed gratification isn’t a part of that equation. A lot of carts get put in front of horses too. Around here, developers are still building homes in the $500,000 range even though the average income is right around $30,000 a year! With so much tugging on your wallet, it’s difficult to just live within means.

We should live in the now, but we need to be aware that whatever we do or don’t do now greatly affects our future. Today and each moment is the start of the future.

It’s so sad that so many people bought into the sale pitch of big businesses, i.e. you have to have this or that to be successful, be happy, blah, blah, blah. A totally destructive path.

I hope everything is well with you, Jude. Sending you love and wishing you many blessings
