I'm Back/Retirement/Good News

   Posted by: jude   in Retirement

I’ll take a stab at getting back into some sort of online routine today, but I’m finding it difficult to concentrate after my hiatus. I realized recently that I’ve been letting real life take a back seat to my virtual world and that’s not good, I needed time to reflect and sort a few things out. Can’t say I really got anything sorted though, but I did realize there are more important things to do than spend so many hours on the computer. I guess everyone needs a break from time to time.

Bill was off work for 10 days and as much as I love him I think I will probably go nuts when he retires and he probably will also. Everyone needs some kind of structure and since he’s worked all his life he dreams of retiring and not dealing with so much work pressure. However with these past 10 days I think he realized how bored he will be when that time does come. He didn’t know what to do with himself or his time unless we were riding the bike and spending time together.

It’s okay when you go away and sight see and we had planned to go to Ocean City, but decided we could use that money in other ways.  It doesn’t matter how much you love someone you need time to yourself, you cannot spend every waking minute together because sooner or later you may wont to rip your hair out. I wish he would and could retire, but now I’m stressed and worried that he will and I wont know how to make him happy. Of course I shouldn’t feel like it’s my responsibility to keep him from getting bored, but I do.

Okay enough of the retirement, we took his Son and family to breakfast Saturday and received news which really didn’t surprise us, they are expecting a new baby in Feb. They seem really happy and I hope this one will be a boy because they have two little girls, one almost 4 and the other 2 and they really want a boy this time, but will of course be just as happy with another girl. Also my Grandson Ethan will be coming up from Kentucky next week and I’m beside myself with excitement.

That’s enough for today and I’m happy to be back, but I will start spending less time online than before. Have a great day.

Yeah I know how addicting this blogging can be. I am trying to do things in advance so I will spend some time reading. My books are piling up. Glad you are back even if just for less time.:-) thanks for visiting me.

I know what you mean about spending hours online. I too have decided not to be on here so much by not dropping entrecards just to drop them. I’ve decided to just concentrate more on reading blogs I follow and commenting but not worry about getting at least 100 drops for both my blogs every day. It just doesn’t seem to be worth the time.

I agree, we need to live life more and spend less time behind the computer! I have really cut back quite a bit over the past few weeks, trying to spend more time with my daughter while she’s out of school for the summer.

Welcome back! My Mom used to be convinced she’d have to kill my Dad when he retired and at first he did drive her crazy, but over time he kind of figured out his “new life” and eventually had stuff to do on his own and got involved in his own things, so there is hope for Bill! :-) But it did take time….

I think everyone needs structure in their days. A planned retirement n which you actively keep up on hobbies, learning and friends seems like a much better life to me than the mythical sitting in an old folks home. Life is for living! It’s no wonder so many retired people start new businesses or volunteer.

So glad to see you posting again. Welcome back. You were missed. I know what you mean about spouses driving each other nuts. I know it would be that way for hubby and I. He isn’t good at entertaining himself. He retired about 6 years ago from job and got another. He says it’s hard to live on one’s full income, trying to do it on less (one’s retirement), it’s good. AND, he says people all think they want to retire, but you can go fishing so often, or play so many rounds of golf, or whatever it is that floats your boat. So, he plans to work another 10 years but even know wonders what he’ll do at that time. He doesnt’t really have hobbies. I knit, crocheted, love the yard work, and enjoy my time here on line. I like to visit and photograph graves stones. I really don’t get bored…he does, so hope he continues to work.

Enjoy your visit with your grandson.

I’m popping in on all my friends today to ask a favor, could you swing over please to see what I’m talking about.

Thanks
Sandy
