There are many reasons why our manufacturing jobs have left this country and the irresponsible union demands are only ONE of them. Look up Ford Brazil Plant on YouTube and see why Ford didn't need a bailout.

Will Ford eventually pull out all of it's US manufacturing? Taxes, environmental laws, union demands and profitability will tell.

America needs to wise up...no doubt about it!

Unions were a good idea when they first began. They protected workers from horrible things. Now they go too far. It is sad to hear about the Harley plant.

As far as I'm concerned unions should have been obsolete about 40 years ago. We have no need for them any longer as we did decades ago. Employees are quite aware of their rights these days. Even if they aren't there is a lawyer's commercial on tv every 10 minutes to remind them. Witness the auto industry.

My old man was a machinist and a union man who hated union management as much as owner management.

I've worked in and outside of unions in manufacturing, government, and service sectors.

What originally created unions is still there (a need for universal health care and the right to organize to combat evil and stupidity), but everything went wrong when education turned to being relevant and the country expanded the military industrial complex to include a prison industrial complex that has turned the U.S. from a nation of ugly Americans into a nation of miserable fucks.

Everything now seems based on mass-debation and who can shout the loudest so that the rest of us can hear their pain. Thank you, Bill Clinton.

Political, religious, community, business, and union leaders respond accordingly turning the shouters into whiners and the cycle begins again.

I knew a guy once who paid a guy to crush his arm at a warehouse so he could finally join the union after multiple hires and layoffs with the same company and obtain a living wage and benefits.

You want a lawyer joke?

Look around. The past century has been one endless lawyer joke.

There is no punch line, unless you like getting the shit beat out of you by the law.

I have to agree with you, even though I have many union friends. Well, they aren't in a union to be my friend---you get it, right?!

Unions are killing industry. Teachers unions are destroying the schools they are teaching in and the autoworkers....well, you know what is happening to them.
