I'm Giving My Liver A Break

Posted by: jude   in Home and Family

It’s been kind of rainy around our part of the world and we had some high winds the other night that did some damage in some areas. Bill finds it funny that the newest hurrican is named after him, I don’t think I’ve ever had one named after me although I can be pretty windy at times.

This is my second week without having a drink and I feel every ache and pain this poor old body has been trying to deaden. I have always liked to indulge in the cocktail hour, but with events this past year I have over indulged and now my liver hurts so I’m giving it a break.

I always gain weight when I drink and when I stop I lose it. I had one lady a few years back ask me what my secret was for losing weight and I told her I stopped drinking. She seemed so disappointed because I didn’t give her a magic answer because she doesn’t drink so my solution wouldn’t help her.

Last night we babysat Nate and Natalie and Pappy finally got a chance to bond with the newest Granddaughter. She’s so comical and very serious, but we had a very enjoyable 2 hours while their parents had a nice dinner date and time alone. Today we dogsat for Bills’ Son and again tomorrow, the one dog, Otis can be a real pain sometimes.

This is not really a post about anything I just write what I feel like so at a future date I can go back and read where I was or what I might have been doing at some particular point in time. Well, it’s late and my body hurts so I’m going to bed hopefully I wont have a nightmare tonight, dang I miss my cocktail.

Oh, I hate giving up the cocktail hour!! But the weight is just so darned adversely affected by it, isn’t it?? Drats. We went to Weight Watchers last year, and while all the old ladies were moaning about cheesecake and such, we were in the back giggling because we had to give up drinking! The leader said that perhaps we were at the “wrong” meeting! She was kidding, of course, but it was sort of embarrassing! Good luck with drying out, pally. I’m doing the same, so we can cry together.

If it wasn’t for alcohol, I wouldn’t get enough water on a daily basis and my liver would just shrivel up and fall out.

Changing old habits is always difficult. Two weeks without cocktail hour is quite impressive! Congratulations :)
