I loved reading your post. You know, last time there was the big brouhaha over the ad thing — and it wasn’t just the ad thing, Graham was doing all kinds of things that were upsetting people — I left, and I came to regret it. I’d go blog-hopping to visit some of my favorite blogs (your included ) and I felt melancholy and I missed everyone. I’ve been waiting to see what happens, but I really don’t want to leave. You’ve made me feel a lot better because I feel like you do, I just hope everybody (all the good original blogs that aren’t just all ads and paid posts) doesn’t jump ship. I’m going to be really interested to see what happens. I’m just kinda sitting by the side of the pool dangling my feet in the water and splashing about like a little kid watching the ec world go by. I’ve run the whole gamut of emotions, I just wanted to say that your post made a lot of sense to me and made me feel a lot better.

Hi Mother Maitri I missed you when you left the last time and was happy to see your blogs return I know you are concerned about this newest twist as so many others are and I know lots of people can’t afford the 50 bucks to keep sponsored ads off. I do recall reading that they would not be adult or anything bad like that. I have noticed that many blogs have just moved the widget to the bottom already. I certainly hope this gets worked out somehow because the idea behind the program is a great one, very sad to see even more good blogs leaving, love and hugs right back atcha.

I too am sad to see so many bloggers leaving. I’m definitely in stay and watch mode. As long there are blogs worth visiting I’ll stay, but if it clears out to the point where there are only a handful of blogs I enjoy, then I can’t picture dropping on a bunch of blogs I don’t enjoy. Glad you’re sticking around for now too.

Hi Tina- It’s a shame Entrecard can’t seem to get it right, but I guess you can’t please everyone in any program and I have noticed some people will always find something wrong with anything, but in this instance there really seems to be some bad judgment calls on their part. I’m glad you’re staying also I enjoy your blog. I would still try to stop occasionally, but it makes it more convenient through dropping.

I’m with you on this one. My EC widget will be staying put.

Well, I can say I’m not happy with how Entrecard has been running the past half year but it seems that I still don’t want to let go of the service.

It has served me well more than the times that I hated it. I won’t go for now but hopefully all the changes being made right now will be the correct ones after a few months from now!

I agree Jude. It’s so nice to visit our friends with the favourites on EntreCard toolbar. If I bookmark people, I’m just as likely to forget. And after doing return drops on the inbox, it just gets too much. My widget is staying. Hopefully the ridiculous idea of charging $50 gets dropped (or maybe they think it will give them the funding they need).

What Maitri said. I’m actually surprised more people seem to be leaving on this go around. I actually left before because of Graham’s shenanigans. Then I came back. I don’t find this 15% ad rotation thing nearly as bad as what happened before. Anyway, I’m staying for now.

I agree that regardless of the problems with EC, it does make it easy to visit the blogs you like, and it gives the opportunity for keeping a low Alexa Rank, which in turn allows more people to find your blog through an internet search. I try to reach a balance between keeping up my 300 drops at EC and visiting and commenting on blogs that I find interesting, which in turn brings me comments. People spend some time on your blog which evens out the supposed high bounce rate from EC droppers.

I am sticking with Entrecard and feel bad many good bloggers have left. I think it’s worth getting more traffic and finding more blogs. I don’t do near as many drops as I once did though because I use my dashboard reader now for blogs I follow more than dropping from my inbox or the Entrecard toolbar, but now and then I will do that still. Glad you are sticking with EC!

I’m also waiting and seeing. Sometimes I feel like I just have the EC widget on my blog as a courtesy to others who are serious about dropping. There are only a handful of blogs I drop on regularly (this is one of them), I stopped spending a lot of time on dropping a while ago. But, like you, I like the “friends” I’ve made on EC and I like to stay in the community with them, though I’d still visit my faves with or without the widget. So I’ll hang around for now.

I on the wait and see mode. Only one blog that concern me with the sponsor ads, that is because I have children visiting that one and I do not what unappropriated ads on that site. I moved my widget down just in case one pops in:-0 However I do not plan to leave entirely.

at this point and time I just dont know what to do. I didnt leave during the first go around of crap that graham pulled I stayed for that, but I just find this just plain out STUPIDIDITY in what they are trying to pull right now. I am here to eat my words…. sigh…

When I read, awhile ago, that they were not just charging $50 per account, but $50 per BLOG — and I have 3 blogs here — and they made it clear that they were absolutely FIRM and unyielding about anything that they proposed, my heart sank, and I cried, and I went and cancelled all of my pending ads and any after the 4th. If any of you reading this had an ad cancelled know that it was not YOU, but since the change goes into effect on the 5th, I won’t be here after the 4th. There’s no miracle, no last minute save, almost no one is even writing in about it to the blog anymore and they came back with a very firm statement today that they were not budging on their new platform.

I am deeply saddened by this and it is with the deepest regret that I will be leaving after the 4th. I’m going to join Laane’s new group Entrewas (A Yahoo List I think) to stay in touch with those who have left, and I will still visit all of you I love so much, and with all the credits I just got back from cancelling I will buy any and all ads I can for my main blog through the 4th. I don’t know how to disable the ads as many have. I have ads waiting on my blogs that go past the 5th and I don’t know what to do about that. I don’t want to disappoint anyone, but this latest move and the callous note from them was not a kind of place I want to be. I am very sensitive to negative energy and it is bouncing all over this place.

I love you all, more than you know, and will be visiting your blogs often….

I am not surprised why a lot of bloggers left Entrecard. I am also one of those who is on the verge of leaving. If not only for the traffic I do get which looks good at Alexa ranking, I would have left a long time ago. But there will come a time (probably soon) that I have to leave because it’s not only difficult for me to make 300 drops each day, but also because their service is not satisfying—the changes in their ad credits, the system, and worst the customer service who are bordering between “nice” and “arrogant”.
Soon I will have enough of their crap, and I really have to leave.

I am really sad about leaving too, but well, what everyone who is leaving said

I am going to go join Laane’s group too, and have been bookmarking like mad because I would miss you all too much otherwise!

Ok, I really need to know this…

What do you all think about the free structure with 15% going to EC? Will the ads hurt us? I’ve been suffering and struggling about this all day long.

I mean I’ve had a day of panic because so many people have written to me that they are leaving, so I decided I would too, and I cancelled all outgoing ads (mine, not people who bought ads from me) after the 4th, and then I fing myself teetering on the brink and feeling so sad.

It’s hard for me because there is just so much loss in my life right now. My mother is going to die any day, and ec has become a real source of friendship and bringing readers to my blogs, and I begin to wonder, well, how bad might it be if I stayed and let the paid ads run 15% of the time? I mean God knows we have no say who turns up on our adjitize ads and I’ve gotten more hits from them than anyone.

I don’t wanna go…

I actually just got a very nice note from ec support in response to my far more thought out response without all the emotion and drama. I’m staying. They explained things a lot better and I feel better. Thank you all for bearing with me. With my mother in her final days I think all I have is noodles for brains and I think they’re overcooked. That’s good to know Maitri – I haven’t been keeping up with anything EC in awhile, other than dropping now and then and placing an ad here and there.

I am leaving Entrecard. Yesterday, I saw very “adult” blogs dropped on two of my blogs, and more money-making blogs have been requesting ads than any of the good ones. I can’t tolerate the sex ads at all, and it makes me mad that there’s a sudden influx of them.

Quite a few bloggers are now friending each other on Facebook and using the Networked Blogs application there. It saves all the blogs you’re following in one place, which makes it just as easy as Entrecard to visit all your favorite blogs. C’mon and join us!

I’m sort of in the wait and see mode. The 15% ads don’t bother me that much, unless they turn out to be advertising something I disapprove of. If that happens, I’ll highlight that which I believe will help make it disadvantageous for paid sites that I don’t approve of. That will put pressure on EntreCard to fix things, or drive away paid advertisers.

I also spend time on other ad networks. I really like Adgitize these days, it gives me better traffic and I’m turning a profit on it. CMF Ads is pretty good too.

I just hope that if people leave EntreCard, they will go to Adgitize or CMF Ads and I’ll see them there.

One final thought: Please fill out my survey below about which ad networks you use. It will help me track where people go and perhaps come up with better ways of staying in touch going forward.

I’m going to wait things out too. Entrecard seems to be doing some foolish things lately, but maybe they are moves of desperation to stay alive. I’ll only leave if their paid ads become very objectionable to me. I’m not happy with them, but it takes awhile for me to get to my breaking point. I don’t really need Entrecard, but they still bring me what I want.

i made this week already three blog posts about the forced “sponsored ads” and every time there are new aspects to consider.

I would like that everyone stays at first and NOT remove the widget already without having seen the effects which will occur from Monday on.

From the new comment from Cindy on the EntreCard-Blog it seems, even as a free user we have a choice to reject (some) of these sponsored ads. Paid users will see none of them.

Let’s just wait and see!

I have always loved visiting your blog and reading your entries even though sometimes I don’t get to visit everyday. I am thinking of “lying low” in EC, not totally leaving it or removing the widget but I would most probably be dropping less. I used to drop by ALL of my droppers but I guess starting this month I would prioritize those on my blogroll, some of my faves and then my new visitors.

I’m still on Adgitize and CMF anyways so, I’m still visible to anyone who wants to visit and say hi.

I’m not that concerned with running paid ads at 15% as long as they are acceptable to me. I have no say over the adgetize ads that appear on my blog so I don’t see the difference. I am toying with the idea of discontinuing my drops on all those dead sites…no updates and zero returns on comments. I enjoy the friendship and traffic I get with entrecard though it does take an awful lot of time.

I have had EC for almost two years and it seems that at least twice a year something pops up that upsets the masses…some leave, some stay. I hate seeing many go, since I enjoy reading their blogs and this is the way I keep track of them. It serves its purpose for me…I’m not looking to making my million this way….lol

I am just now getting the hang of EC and love so many of the blogs I have discovered … so, I am sticking around unless things get out-of-control bad. (((hugs)))

I detest the censorship both on the blog and the forum, and the trying to sneak things in without proper discussion or announcement. I don’t want now, any more than I did last time around paid ads. At least last time we could accept or decline. Now, though they’ve not been honest or straight forward with us, they want us to trust them.l That is beyond laughable. I’ve only dropped a handful since the email came, I’ve not purchased any ads, and I just don’t know what I want to do. I think it’s easy to stay in touch with people without ec, so to be thats not a reason to stay. After all anyone I communicate with has a link with their comments.

My Alexa ranking has improved, but my google ranking hasn’t at all, so I question whether ec has helped?

I don’t like the drama, I don’t like the lies…but for now, I guess I’m playing through…unless I change my mind.
