Thrifty Or Cheap Either Way It Works For Me

Posted by: jude   in Harley Seniors

I have known people that wouldn’t wear anything unless it was a name brand, but thankfully that never bothered me. For that same 100 dollars they spend on one pair of jeans I can go to a thrift store and buy 10 outfits and usually they still have the tags on them. I love thrift stores and a lot of the items are even name brand and it doesn’t bother me in the least to repurchase someone elses outcasts and rewash them of course. Of course some items I wont purchase like someone elses underwear and shoes although I did buy a pair of new Harley boots once for 10 dollars.

I wasn’t prepared for the cold wind blowing up my pant legs yesterday while riding the bike so Bill stopped on the side of the road and folded my jeans over and pulled my socks up over them. That worked great until the fold started pressing in on my shin bone and I thought my leg was going to break in half. Thank goodness we were almost at our destination so I gratefully pulled and yanked till I released the pressure. 20 years ago that wouldn’t have phased me, but my body tends to let me down the older I get.

We looked around for some of those leggings that pull up over your clothes, but Battlefield didn’t carry them. The closest to anything we saw we’re some sort of rain gear for men that pulled up over your boot over your calf  and cost around 45 dollars because of the Harley logo, I don’t think so! It was a bit warmer going back home so I didn’t bother tucking my pants in my socks again. We stopped at an after market leather place further down the road and found exactly what I needed for 17 dollars, I love a bargain and they worked great.

That’s great you found what you were looking for for only $17. I will shop in second hand stores too. I sometimes buy stuff on eBay for a good deal too. :)

For some reason, I cannot tolerate the musty smell of antique stores or resale stores. It’s not that I’m a snob or anything–it’s the smell. Isn’t that weird??? We once stayed in a rustic cabin for a few days that smelled musty and I could not eat without gagging in that cute little cabin. Okay, so I’m weird. :)

Cheap, thrifty, frugal, whatever you want to call it, that’s me. I LOVE secon hand stores and flea markets and yard sales. I always get a thrill when I find a great deal.

I love a good bargain! I am a thrift store shopper too. I’ve never worried much about brands and such either. I guess I am just naturally cheap!

I don’t usually go for brand too. What I will look out for is the design; if I like it, I’ll buy it.

We love garage sales and thrift stores. There is nothing at all wrong, with being frugal and thrifty. Several of the second hand stores in my area, carry name brands for both children and adults. Items may be gently used, but why pay full price?

Why pay full price indeed! That’s pretty much my motto. I am a frequent Marshall’s shopper, name brands for a pittance. Thrift stores are the best. I once got a pair of pants, new with tags @ $180. for $5. Who wouldn’t love that? And if I can’t buy it I’ll make it!

Skinny jeans tucked into boots are still in this year. Maybe you should try that to keep your legs warm. I’m sure you could find some at a thrift store somewhere.

I don’t shop at thrift stores, mostly because there aren’t any that I know of in this town, but I tend to buy my jeans at Walmart for cheap, and then I spend more on my tops somewhere else. The way I figure it, no one sees the label anyway because my shirts always come over it.

However, when I am back in my hometown, I go to Goodwill all the time, not for clothes, but for furniture. I like to buy old, real wooden furniture that looks like crap, then strip it or paint it, and make it pretty. I got my entire table set in my kitchen for $40 there.
