The Embarrasing Gynecologist Visit

Posted by: jude   in Mature Not Senile Misc

Okay, don’t beat me up for this oldie, but goody I couldn’t resist and I know you’ve all heard it because I got it back in 2001 through an e-mail.

A woman in her 30’s was taking her mother, who was in her 50’s to the gynecologist. After dropping her mother off, she and her daughter ran a few errands, then returned to the doctor.

While the older woman had her feet in the stirrups, the doctor remarked,”Don’t we look pretty today”, as he performed his examination.

The lady was quite shocked, but said nothing. When her daughter picked her up, she was quite upset. The following conversation ensued:

Mother: Do you know what that doctor said to me? He said, “Don’t we look pretty today”, while he was looking between my legs! Do you think that was appropriate?

Daughter: No! Are you sure he wasn’t referring to your hairstyle or something?

Mother: Well, it still wasn’t appropriate or professional. I wonder if it could be considered sexual harassment. What do you think?

Daughter: I don’t know. We’re you embarrassed?

Mother: I was very embarrassed. I used some of your FDS this morning, and he may have smelled that, but I still don’t think he should have commented!

Daughter: I don’t have any FDS.

Mother: Why, sure you do! In the blue can that was on back of the toilet. I used some before the appointment…

Granddaughter: Grandma, that’s my Barbie Golden Glitter Hair Spray!

lol, i have never heard that one before, so i am glad that you shared it…hehehe. when i was 16, i went to the doctor as i hadn’t gotten my period for many months and thought i better find out what was going on. well, it was horrible. the doctor was from india and he examined me alone. i was young and didn’t know any better. i thought something was wrong as he was breathing hard when he was examining my breasts. after the pelvic exam and him telling me to get dressed he left. when he came back in he kissed me on my lips and told me that i had “clap”. i didn’t know what to do. i was so shocked and scared. i told my mom but nothing was ever done about it. apparently i wasn’t the only one that he did that to and he eventually was gone. but no charges were ever filed on him. i didn’t go to the doctor for a long long time after that experience.

have a wonderful day…hugz!

I took my daughter to my gynecologist for her first appointment. I waited outside and the doctor knew I was there. I was determined that she would not have the experience that PJ describes. I think my daughter thought I was really hovering. I love the glitter story, Jude. It’s sweet and funny too! I’m sending it to my sister.

Patricia thank goodness they now require a nurse to be present. I was amazed at the reports years ago about all of the misconduct between patient and doctors. Glad you liked the story.

I’ve been lucky I’ve never had to go for a gynecolgy appointment where the nurse wasn’t in the room and I’ve never mistook glitter spray for FDS. I’ve heard that story but loved it, glad you posted it today.
