Certain Colors Influence Buying

Posted by: jude   in Mature Not Senile Misc

Color is used by advertisers to tempt and trigger our impulses black, blue, red and orange attract impulsive buyers. They say smart shoppers are attracted to pink, light blue and navy blue colors and advertisers spend lots of money for this information in order to plan their strategies of what to sell to whom.

I’m sure you’ve noticed that advertisements for children have bright and vibrant colors. Green, red, and blue which are the primary colors, but they also combine to make the glorious yellow which attract children and that’s why parents buy those colors for their kids. These colors represent warmth, sweetness, trust, reliability, playfulness and security.

We know how color makes us feel at home and it really can affect our behavior and even some prisons have experimented with color to calm the inmates.

The experts can predict certain things and make a hypothesis because of trends they have seen and been a part of and have studied human nature and know which color triggers which responses, do you know those colors and what they represent? I would say they aren’t always correct, but they’ve gotten pretty accurate at times.

I am going to list some of these colors now :

  • Black stands for elegance, sophistication, seduction and mystery.
  • White stands for peace, pure, clean, mild and youthful.
  • Gold stands for prestige, luxury and elite.
  • Silver stands for prestige, scientific and cold.
  • Yellow stands for warmth, happiness and cheer.
  • Orange stands for warmth, playfulness, and vibrant.
  • Red stands for love, excitement, strength, passion, and danger.
  • Pink stands for nurture, sweet, soft, and security.
  • Green stands for nature, fresh, fertility and abundance.
  • Blue stands for cool, trust, belonging and reliability and has a relaxing effect.
  • Purple stands for spiritual, royalty, and dignity.

Blue was my favorite for the longest time but over the past few years it’s been pink.

I love red and yellow, those colors are dominant in my house. I also love black, then there is pink and neon green…couldn’t live without those. I would like to hear the reasons behind colors creating buying responses in us. That’s pretty interesting.

Buggys I also find it fascinating and I read about this many years ago when I was looking for a job and the best colors to wear and it still fascinates me. Just like words that we attach meanings to we also manage to attach meaning with colors and our desires, wants, and needs. Colors don’t affect everyone in the same way of course, but when you look at nature and all the colors just think about the feelings that those individual colors evoke in you. For myself I like Zen spa colors basically pastels that are soothing. I wish I had the reasons and answers you seek, but I don’t, but you can do a search and see what turns up for you.

My favorite colors and red and purple. I never knew all the different “meanings” of all the different colors – that’s really interesting!

Color is shown in our moods too – I can always tell when my daughter is in “one of those moods” by the clothes she wears
