Hospital Security For Babies

We went to visit the baby at the hospital and I was amazed at the security they enforce. You have to fill out a little card when you first go in and then they give you a plastic keycard. You then have to scan that on the family card reader before it will even move the elevator to the 3rd floor. Only 4 visitors are allowed at any given time and you have to wait till others come down and switch out with you. At first only one person came down so I had to wait till one of the other #@%^&’* decided to let me go up, they knew the rules and could have come down in the first place.

They also put a device on the baby’s ankle that sets off an alarm if someone tries to take them from the 3rd floor. I’m all for security since babies are stolen all the time, but I had no clue that they had made all these changes within the last few years. You can’t even view the baby photo’s unless you have a hospital number and a special patient number. Makes me wonder if they have had any incidents in the past 3 years. Chris had a really nice, big room all to herself, but she said the bed was very uncomfortable. She went in Friday morning and left the hospitalĀ  Saturday evening.

So far all is well. I guess everyone will be calling the little guy different names, but since they named him Diezel that’s what I will use, Bill said he was going to call him little Will, the Mother’s parents are opting for little D and DW. I wonder what the little guy will opt for when he gets older. Bill’s Son picked the name Diezel and the Mother liked Jagger so he now has two middle names, William and Jagger at least they put part of his Pappy’s name in there.

They sure have tight security in the hospital. But it’s welcoming and as long as everyone is well protected. Congrats on the new member to the family. May he be blessed with great health, love and happiness.

I thought Jagger was his last name. He’s got a big name to remember there. He’s a doll though. I didn’t realize they were doing all that security stuff in hospitals these days but it is a good idea.

That’s a lot of name for such a little guy. It takes so long until they grow into their names anyway! What an adorable little bundle.
I’m pretty happy to hear about the baby security in the hospital. Baby snatching happens too often. Can you even imagine having your child stolen away from the hospital?

Even when my younger son was born 11 years ago they had the little bracelet that would alarm if you took them too far on the hospital floor, ie. too close to the exit. Come to think of it I’m not even sure how I got cleared to leave the hospital with him, there were so many check points along the way.

I’ve not come across any security like that in recent years. Geessssssss, talk about over kill. I mean the babies are behind glass and you look the window at them. Why would any of that security be needed? No wonder medical bills have gone through the roof, look what else we’re all paying for? When it’s time for the babies to be in the rooms with the moms, I do think it was limited to family; but think there were about a half dozen of us.

Sorry to hear they went through with naming the cutie that name. I would call him Billie, he looks like a Billie and then when he’s older he can be William.

If and when he’s old enough to want to be called his first name he can say so, or maybe do what lots of kids to and legally change his name.

Have the parents wondered why everyone is calling this little guy something different?

Glad to know everyone is doing well.

He’s so adorable and that Diezel name is already growing on me. Wow, I didn’t realize the security had gotten so tight these days. Sounds like a good thing to me. No more stolen babies.
