Are You A Good Neighbor?

Posted by: jude   in Home and Family

It’s overcast and cloudy today and no Sun am I able to find. Our neighbor was planting his Spring onions yesterday so I know the weather is on an upswing, it was beautiful. I heard flocks of birds and geese flying overhead and it felt like Spring, I enjoyed watching the squirrels running and playing and watching the red Cardinal looking for worms. We did see a Robin so that’s always a good sign.

I am not pleased with the ducks next door because they stink and we are getting so many of their feathers in the yard and the dogs bring them inside stuck to their fur and feet. I have been hoping that our neighbor would come to her senses and give them away to someone on a farm, but I guess she likes the smell of rotting duck eggs and all that duck poop, it’s gross and will only get worse when it gets hot.

I guess it’s time to either call the borough or say something to her and I’m sure she will not be too happy either way. I would love to move away from this inconsiderate community maybe that’s what these 2 young ladies are hoping to help us decide. The one in the back blocks us with all her snow and the other is trying to gross us out with her stinking ducks. She did tell Bill she is planning on getting an English Bulldog so she’ll have to do something then.

They didn’t take care of their last dog so I’m really dreading this and hope  it wont happen again. We try to be good  neighbors, but some people are really starting to tick me off with their lack of consideration. Okay enough of my rant about neighbors, I see the Sun trying to peek through so I don’t feel as hostile toward the duck smell and neighbors. I need to take Obie and Sadie out to enjoy the Sun.

I guess I’m pretty lucky in the neighborhood department. I have nothing to complain about. They’re all great.

Wow, rude neighbors really suck–I hope you can work that out peacefully and I really feel for you! BTW, the pigs and gardens (on my blog) are Italian…mine are still snow covered, but I’d LOVE to make them even half as nice as these! These are my inspiration…not my end product! LOL!! And thank you for the EC credits though I’m so sorry to hear you’re leaving…I’ll drop by again to check on you, too!! HOPE for SUN!! Karen

We’re lucky in the neighborhood department. We don’t even have fences and there aren’t any issues with pets or kids. In fact, there aren’t any fences until about 7 houses down the way! Anyway, what’s the old saying, “High fences make good neighbors”? Maybe you need higher fences?

We live in a condo, so there are all kinds of rules to force people to be good neighbors.

Thanks for your comments about spam – I’ll skip the mayo, but may try some other garnish.
Comcast read my post and commented to contact and they would like to help.
I did and we’ll see…

I hope the sun starts to hang out more often at your place and that your neighbors suddenly get the urge to move far away. With the ducks.

Hi Jude,
I think I would have to say something to her about the ducks. I would not like that either. The neighbor houses are spread out, I can only see my grandparents trailer from my home.

One thing living out in the country is there are cows by us. I do like to look at them, but when they put them by the field by our house in the hot summer time, well you get my drift. I would rather smell the flowers. LOL

We are surrounded by cows. Across the road in front of our house, below the house in a field and sometimes the cows are behind our house in the woods. Thanks for still visiting my blog and for all your nice comments. :-)

I think we’re good neighbors, at least we don’t have annoying ducks in our yard. Quack! Quack!

We’ve lived so many places that we’ve had good neighbors and bad neighbors. I think that we’re good neighbors, and I guess by the way our neighbors usually tell us that they hope the next neighbors are like us we must be doing something right. Some of the communities we’ve lived in have had very strict rules either imposed by the town or by home owners associations. Some of the rules are ridiculous, but you do risk getting neighbors like yours when there aren’t so many rules or they’re not enforced.

You are cracking me up with the duck commentary!
Dealing with neighbors is a balancing act for sure.
