Grandparent Day With Nate

Posted by: jude   in Pappy and Nana

Yesterday was Grandparent Day at Nate’s school and the place was packed. He goes to a christian school and he’s a smart little guy and acts much older than his 7 years. We got there just in time to see the program, but we had to sit all the way in the back so the photo’s I tried to take were mostly of other people with their cameras held up and the backs of all those people’s head.

Nate reading his Grandparent poem

After the program we were invited back to their room where they had each written their own poem and then had to get up and  read it to us which was sweet. Our poem is below. After they did their little thing in the room we were then able to take them home early. We stopped by Laugermans and Bill bought Nate a motorcycle to add to his collection and then we had to stop at McDonalds for a happy meal. We had a good day with Nate, then we went for a bike ride.

Bill had to go to the eye doctor before we went and we were very pleased with the pressure in his eyes. It’s never been this low (12 in one and 14 in the other) in years so apparently the Laser Iridotomy procedure  worked this time along with the drops. Thanks for reading, have a great weekend.

I’ll bet he was sooo happy that you were there for that day! It means a lot to the kids that you come, something my in-laws never figured out. If he didn’t say it a billion times that day, I will–thanks for going. :)

That poem is SO SWEET! What nice things he feels about you! I love the “happy every day” part – of course you and Bill aren’t jumping around for joy each day, but your grandson obviously sees and notices your happiness that you feel around him! That is so nice!

This is so sweet. We live nowhere near my parents or inlaws, so it is very rare that my boys have grandparents at grandparent’s day.

My boys always describe their grandparents as “so much fun.” I guess that’s a huge perk of being a grandparent, because I certainly wouldn’t have described my parents as “so much fun” before they were grandparents. Glad you had such a great day.

We also went to school for Grandparent’s Day. What fun that was. They sang songs for us. We did a little arts and crafts and had snacks. Buggy had some trouble remaining quiet, not unusual.
Grandparenting is the best job I’ve ever had!

Jude, hope that you had a great weekend. I thought the poem was very sweet. It must have made your day to hear Nate reciting the poem in front of you and Bill. Glad to hear that Bill’s eyes pressure are good.
