Remembering My Son On His Birthday

Posted by: jude   in Home and Family

Love Lives On

Those we love remain with us
for love itself lives on,
cherished memories never fade
because a loved one’s gone.
Those we love can never be
more than a thought apart,
for as long as there is memory,
they’ll live on in the heart.

Today would be my Son’s 40th birthday and he always called me on his birthday to wish me a happy birthday, his way of thanking me. It’s been 17 months since his death and looking back it doesn’t seem real and it’s hard to believe so much time has passed so quickly. Each day has felt like a nightmare that never ends.  I will spend his day remembering his life and everything we went through together and I will always be grateful for the time I was allowed to know and love him.

It’s sweet bittersweet to remember all the times you had together, knowing they have ended. Sending you hugs today.

Hi Jude,
A lovely post remembering your son on his Birthday. I am 40 years old also. I do not know how your son died, but I am very sorry for your loss. I just believe he is still watching over you. I would like to send you a friendship hug also. Take good care! :-)

Hope you found some time to spend with that grandchild. Children somehow make a sad day brighter. My heart goes out to you.

What a beautiful poem, although it made me cry. I’m sure that 17 months flew in a way that consisted of many days that seemed to go on forever. As someone who will be 43 soon, I know that this is just too young to say goodbye, and as someone who almost lost my son, my heart aches for any mother who has lost a child at any age. Sending thoughts and prayers your way. Tina

Jude I’m so sorry for your pain on this day and the past 17 months. I can’t even imagine it. The poem is simply beautiful and I hope you enjoy the good memories today.

I’ll bet if you still yourself, you will hear from him again today as well. He hasn’t left you, Jude. I think he is with you every single day, sending his love in a different form.

I know this is still very difficult for you, pally. I wish I could send you a big hug and comfort to make it easier.

Nicely said. I feel very much the same in terms of remembering them in our hearts. It’s been a little shorter period of time for me since loosing Mom, 13 months; but we’re very much in the same boat. I continue to remember the good times. Just posted my O memory if you want to pop over and read it. Making my way through the alphabet and will continue to do. I’ve found it very cathartic to write about her.

Hugs

What a beautiful tribute to your son, mine has been gone for 18 years he would have been 37 and I always fear people will not remember him, thus I’ll be thinking about your son.
