We went in Thursday morning and the surgery was suppose to be at 10:45, they didn’t take him back till 2:00. No one had the courtesy to let us know why there was such a long delay until 15 minutes before they took him back.

The operation was suppose to take an hour and a half to two hours. Guess what? Time just kept right on ticking past 2 hours and it wasn’t till hour 3 and a half that I was informed of a complication.

I was told that they were successfully finishing up. He was in surgery for 4 hours and an hour in recovery and didn’t get to his room until 7 PM. The surgeon came to let me know all the details and showed me photos of the colon re-sectioning, I was a nervous wreck.

He was in the hospital for 5 days, but he’s home now and doing great. He’ll be off work for a month recuperating. Take care everyone and all the best.

I know about the waiting. I had a similar experience when I had my lumpectomy done. It’s so hard on the person waiting without hearing anything and you get yourself psyched up and ready to go at a certain time only to have to wait a couple hours longer. Glad to hear he’s doing well now though. Make sure he takes off the full month, even if he thinks he’s feeling well enough to go back sooner. I made that mistake but quickly corrected it and took off all the time for recuperation that the doctor recommended.

That must have been a dreadfully long day. I just hate the way they can keep people waiting in the hospital and never let you know what’s going on. so glad to hear he’s back home and on the mend.

They are busy back there and lose track of time, while those waiting on the other side of the door are ticking those seconds very slowly. I’m just glad that he’s okay and is recovering. Here’s to hoping that he is back at it soon!!

I know how hard the waiting is, been there several times; but am glad he’s home and is recouping, and that the surgery was a success. Take good care of him, and yourself.
