Entrecard/Birthday/Ducks

Posted by: jude   in Mature Not Senile Misc

After 1 week of not really using Entrecard sources my traffic has taken a huge nose dive from the 300 visitor range to 150, doesn’t look very promising without Entrecard, but the lift off my shoulders right now is unbelievable.

Today is Bill’s birthday, he is 62 and he has decided not to retire after all.

The ducks next door finally have a dog house for shelter.

Nothing much to update or talk about today so I think I’ll go finish up some odds and ends.

Our Big Snow-Dec./09

Posted by: jude   in Home and Family

We got our big snow yesterday and what a mess it is. I refuse to go out in it not that I don’t trust Bill’s driving, but I don’t trust the people in PA they act like a bunch of idiots around my area. Any mention of snow and people head straight for the milk and bread like they’ll be snowed in for a year, it’s weird.

Since we needed a project to keep us occupied besides shoveling snow we put Nate’s easel together and wrapped a few presents. I’ll be so glad when the holidays are over and people go back to sane.

Bill will be off until the New Year so I’ve decided to give myself a break also. I’ll still post probably, but I wont be doing any advertising or dropping EC’s unless someone leaves a comment and with everyone being so busy I’m quite sure you guys wont have much time either.

So I certainly wish you all a great holiday full of family, love, and good times and I’ll see you next year.

I also wont be accepting any new advertisers till then so don’t feel slighted or hurt if I refuse your widget, but I’ll send an explanation encase you didn’t read this. I’ve enjoyed everyone’s blogs this year and hope to see you all again.

I have now had to disable all ads so I dropped from the face of Entrecard. Oh well sucks to be me.

The following list are advertisers which I asked to cancel their ads for the next week which made me feel bad so I’ve decided to give them a link which is better than a widget on my blog for one day.

The Sewing Mom

Connect With Your Teens

I Am Harriet

Hip N Cool Momma

As The Crackerhead Crumbles

Freaky Frugalite

The Way I see It

I Love-Hate America

A Rose By Name Learns

Spicybugz World

I’m also adding :
My Cancer Survival- The Word Is Hope because I haven’t been dropping very much and she didn’t recieve many drops.

Seniors/Being Old Doesn't Mean We Can't Date

Posted by: jude8753   in Home and Family

I know there are a lot of baby boomers out there that all of a sudden find themselves alone and lonely and there are a couple misconceptions  that have turned into unwritten rules which are, that dating is for the younger generation only and the second is that seniors are not only too old for it but they are past it, well we’re not.

Individuals into their fifties often date, but beyond that it is frowned upon for a variety of reasons.  No one really likes to think about their parent finding someone else let alone the thought of a possible sexual relationship and they certainly can’t imagine their Grandparents or any old people with all those wrinkles and age finding another companion with sex involved.

Young people shudder at the thought, I know I did. What I shudder at now are May/December relationships.

Some of our children even though they are grown  with homes and children of their own make it very difficult for a  single surviving  parent to date. They tend to think we’ve already had our relationship and no one could replace their Mother or Father and it doesn’t seem to matter that the new friend makes that parent very happy.

Children of any age are notoriously unforgiving if their parents should move on after a death or split. Just remember it is your life to do with as you please though, just as you can’t live your child’s life for them, they can not live yours for you unless you’re of unsound mind and senile of course.

Sometimes greed plays a role even though we might not like to think that our children and grandchildren may be thinking that the new someone is trying to get their hands on what should be their rightful inheritance, if there is anything to inherit of course.

There have been many stories of con-men taking advantage of older seniors that are lonely and decide to date which has added to this perspective, but everyone should be given the benefit of the doubt until proven wrong however precautions  should always be in place.

The Internet and more liberal attitudes are starting to change societies  perspective as a whole, but there’s still a long way to go before the world of senior dating is fully accepted. If  you do decide that the time is right to move on and find someone then there are plenty of options as far as dating is concerned.

There are many senior groups that can introduce you to like minded people that you could form a relationship with. A common interest helps build a solid foundation that could lead to an enduring and healthy relationship. If you can talk to someone for hours, even if it is on just one subject, then you can translate that into a relationship.

Dating as a senior is all about finding a companion to enjoy the rest of your days with no one wants to be alone.

Many seniors that choose to date are looking for a companion to fill a void in their lives. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this. It’s a personal choice that should be respected, just as we respect the rights of younger individuals that choose to date.

It should not be all about anyone but the senior in question. If he or she chooses to date, regardless of what other people think, then more power to them and good luck.

Lately I seem to be hitting on many blogs that give out SEO tips and they don’t even have a page rank or even follow their own tips which seems very odd to me. They are also telling me how to get search traffic and they use Entrecard. Entrecard has certainly helped my Alexa on this blog, but I’m not really sure why I should even care. It’s funny that I get totally all search traffic on my beauty school blog, which I should keep up with and it doesn’t even have a page rank.

It seems there is a huge audience for reciprocity information, but I got so tired of doing so much research that they could do themselves and answering the same questions over and over, it was getting ridiculous and repetitious. They didn’t even bother to search for the answers on my blog to the questions that I had already answered. Kind of like forums where people are too lazy to see if something has already been posted.

If anyone is looking for a niche I would suggest reciprocity if you have the patience I know it would be a smashing success, but I would also suggest that it be on one profession that you have experience with because other wise you would really wear yourself thin. I have so many different lists on that blog, like all the state board addresses and phone numbers, which states reciprocate or endorse each other, and all of the state board’s urls listed, and even what to do when moving from one state to another.

I notice in my stats that they all come from search traffic and only check the page they landed on without looking at any other resources I have provided for them. They are too fricking lazy to look for anything and simply ask the same question that was even answered in the comments left by others. I really need to go through and update a lot of the information provided because that blog could be making money, but it bores me now, maybe after the New Year, I’ll get a second wind and revamp it.

Funny I lost interest in that blog and I only add a new post once or twice a month now. If you do a search for Cosmetology reciprocity last time I checked I came up number’s 1 and 2 of about 117,000. There really should be more info out there. Every state board is different and they all try to keep their websites updated, but I simply don’t have the time right now to go through and check all the new changes every state makes on a continuing bases. I am not an expert on all those state laws and rules as mentioned before I don’t consider myself an expert on anything.

I also read on those SEO and blog tip blogs that your header should convey what your blog is about and was wondering what mine says about this blog. This blog is not about groceries or shopping, but it reminds me of  the old little family run stores which were so familiar to me growing up with a little of this and a little of that and made me very nostalgic when I saw it.  It reminds me of my mind, take from that what you will, but I love looking at it and it appeals to me.

Take care all you nice people that bother to read me and even those that don’t, I wish you abundance, good health, and peace of mind.
