Live In The Now? What About Tomorrow?

Posted by: admin   in Home and Family

When we’re young many of us really don’t think about the future or plan for it. We dream about the future of course, but we always think we have time. Even though it’s a good idea to live in the now, tomorrow usually comes for most of us and the way time passes it’s usually always sooner than you think. For most of us we live week to week and have a really hard time even saving money for an emergency. So what do we do? We’ve either had to borrow money or whip out the credit card and it seems like once you’re in debt it just snowballs.

I know 2 brothers that bought their houses around the same time almost 37 years ago, one paid 16,000 and the other paid 18,000. The brother that paid the smaller price worked very hard and diligently to pay his home off and take care of his family. He made less money than the older brother, but he managed to pay all his bills on time and eventually worked his way up in the company he worked for. His family never had the best of anything, but they had enough and now he only has to pay property and school taxes yearly and make repairs.

The older brother even though he made a lot of money never managed to pay off his house in fact they now owe well over 150,000 dollars or more on that house and complains that he can’t afford to retire even though he’s sick. His family had to have the best of everything and the wife was always flashing big diamond rings and driving expensive cars and the wardrobe was always the best. Instead of cleaning the carpet when it got soiled it was nothing to them to rip it out and go buy new. They were young and had the world by the tail.

People have a hard time living within their means so it’s no wonder everyone is so stressed with the economy the way it is now. I really have a hard time when I hear the news about people losing their jobs and homes and instead of trying to find a way they decide to kill their family and then themselves. We the people created this world of scarcity and we can change it, if we only see the bad in every situation then that is exactly what we are going to attract. I do believe in the law of abundance and if you think positively and see the positive then that is what you will attract, but that’s another post.

Yesterday which was Sunday we decided to head in the opposite direction from where we live since we had been through Gettysburg the day before we decided to head to Lancaster, which is always a good ride. Since I had my camera in hand the duck next door was making so much ruckus I had to take a look, it was in the very small pond so I took a photo, it’s almost bigger than the pond, I didn’t see the smaller black one, but usually they get in there together to wash and cool off.

We headed to Long’s Park in Lancaster because we like to watch people, usually during the Summer they have live music and different events going, but yesterday was just families having picnics and strolling around the pond. All over the park they have signs like the one below that clearly states not to feed the water fowl, but in the next photo 3 little kids armed with 2 bags of bread and their parents totally ignore the signs as did many others as we watched.

Before loading up I took a photo of Bill and the trike so you could see what a good job he did adding my passenger armrests. The day looked perfect and sunny so we headed toward The Buck because the countryside is so beautiful and there are usually a lot of Amish buggy’s going back and forth and I wanted to take some pictures. I had intended to have Bill pull over when I saw a great view and get some photo’s, but dark ugly storm clouds started rolling in and we were trying to outrun them.

I managed to snap a few photo’s as we sped past and really couldn’t tell if I had taken any real pictures. My camera isn’t the best so I was really surprised that I captured anything. We were lucky and Bill was speeding for the most part, all we got were a few drops and it was so weird because the sun was shining bright on one side and the dark clouds were on the other. We had planned to stop at Mac’s Drive-in and have a fresh strawberry sundae, but we were in a hurry by then, all in all it was another great day.

Saturday Was A Good Bike Riding Day

Posted by: admin   in Harley Seniors

We had a really nice weekend, Saturday we rode 55 miles for a motorcycle open house in Chambersburg, PA and were considering getting a dream catcher put on the trike, but the artist was too expensive for us right now it cost 800 dollars. I snapped a couple photo’s of his bike because I thought it was cool. There weren’t as many bikers there as other open houses we’ve been to and very few vendors, but we totally enjoyed the ride and got to check out quite a few trikes, we put over 100 miles on the trike.

We enjoyed our day and time together and later last night we took the Suzuki and scooter for a spin around 9 in the evening so we had a full day of riding, since we had a free meal at the open house we decided to snack on crab legs and steamed shrimp. The day was excellent and I didn’t get much done in my virtual online world, but that’s okay because the real world on the weekends are much more important. Weekdays when Bill is working gives me plenty of time online, so weekends are for us. Tomorrow I’ll post about our ride today to Lancaster.

Adam Lambert’s version of “Mad World” which I love and listen to over and over this one was from the Regis and Kelly Show. The link after this video is from Tears For Fears doing the original and you can no longer embed the You Tube video so you can click the link to hear that if you don’t remember it and also a rare video from 82 that was submitted below that link. Following that is the Gary Jules version. Hands down even though I love Tears For Fear I can listen To Adam’s version over and over.

I removed the video’s below because they were slowing my blog down too much, but left the links:

Balancing Our Body’s PH Level For Good Health

Posted by: admin   in Senior Health

Lately I have been researching the PH level in the body and how to maintain the required balance our body needs in order to be healthy and fight off disease. The pH level scale runs from 1 to 14 with 1 serving as “very acidic” 7 being “neutral” and 14 being “very alkaline”. Our bloodstream goes to great lengths to maintain a pH level of 7.35 to 7.45. Finding a balance of 70% alkaline and 30% acid foods seems to be the key. This means that you can still enjoy the foods that you love as long as they are balanced by alkalizing foods.

You can’t alkalize your body if you continue to drink or eat high sugar drinks and fruits. Sugar is  one of the most acidic things you can put into your body. The more acidic a body becomes, the more fat the body will store. Overweight conditions result from too much acid in the body and for those of us that drink alcohol you should know this will definitely disrupt the pH of your system.

It pains me that coffee, soda and teas are also a no no. The best beverage to drink for alkalizing is ionized water, but I can’t afford one of those ionizing systems. Also starchy foods like potatoes, pasta and breads all break down to sugar, and then produce acid waste that collects in the body. Eating any of the animal proteins (chicken, beef, pork, lamb etc) will create excess acid waste in your body as well. Dairy products have concentrated sugars that break down into lactic acid, which creates acidic waste.

So many things that I have a habit of eating and love just isn’t good for me and my body or yours, but it’s your choice. There are so many diet plans out there and so many people swearing by their particular one, but keeping your bodily ph balanced just makes the most sense to me. I’m sure anything in moderation would be okay, but I tend to go over board with the foods and drinks I like, however I do intend to start using more alkalized fruits and vegetables in my daily life I need the energy and I’m tired of feeling sick.

Learning which foods and supplements that add alkaline to your pH levels is just the beginning and many items are listed below, but we need to learn how to Implement them. After adding these healing foods to our diet we can test our body’s pH levels with a  saliva strip test available at most health food stores. Keeping your pH level between 7 and 8 is the target for good health and bringing your bodily pH back to normal  will give us relief from a variety of symptoms.

Most people eat a lot of acidic foods like animal protein, dairy products and wheat. Many health problems are due to excess acidity in the body like chronic fatigue, excess mucous production, nasal congestion, frequent colds and infections, stress, anxiety, weak nails, dry hair, dry skin, headaches, arthritis, muscle pain, hives and leg cramps are all signs of excess acidity and I am prone to most of these lately.

You can simply and easily infuse your body with alkaline foods by using green drinks one to three times per day you can buy it in powder form at health food stores. Green drinks are made from grasses, sprouted grains and other green vegetables. These will help your body become more alkaline and they have the vitamins, minerals and amino acids that your body needs to repair itself, anything we can do to reduce the acidic state  will help our organs to function properly.

I Hope I Live To See My Shrubs Fully Grown

Posted by: admin   in Home and Family

When I moved in with Bill 6 years ago we had talked about putting up a privacy fence, but the borough we lived in didn’t allow them back then so when people started moving out because of that they changed their rules, but by then I had already planted some shrubs and I didn’t want to up root them. I had never planted anything in my life so they were like my babies.

Of course I didn’t realize I was suppose to give them plenty of room to grow in the back so I planted them way too close to the fence. I had bought 5 very small shrubs which had cost 5 dollars a piece so for 25 dollars I figured I’d have my privacy in at least 5 years since the information I read said they would be the 15 feet high growth in that amount of time, either they lied or I did something wrong.

As you can see in the picture they’ve grown a lot, but not any where as high as the 15 feet they’re suppose to be so I’m guessing in another 5 years I might see them grown and finally have my privacy. We’re so close to our neighbors that if you open your door they’re right there in your face. So of course the following year I decided to plant a couple on the other side and this time I got 2 that were close to 5 feet to start.

Of course I had to put fences around anything I tried to grow because Shadow loved to lift his leg and help me water them. He actually killed one before I could get a barrier up. I wish I hadn’t been so cheap and got the 5 foot ones to start with for the other side. I’ve tried growing other plants over the years, but none seem to last for me. I always manage to do something horrendous to them, well gotta go do some weed whacking before it rains.

Clicky’s New Contenture Program

Posted by: admin   in Marketing Online

There’s a new Clicky program called Contenture which you can join for a small fee and visit sites that will hide ads so you aren’t inundated and assaulted by seeing so many. I of course wasn’t sure what it was an thought it was a way to monetize my blog, but it wasn’t what I thought it was so I removed the badge below from the sidebar because I really don’t expect anyone to support my blog but me unless of course I was offering some wonderful services or something useful which I do not.

This program would be better suited for large business sites that use a lot of paid advertising to block those ads for those subscribers that pay for the service and benefit themselves. I’m not sure I actually understand the program entirely, but if you want to read about it yourself and see if your blog or website could benefit from the program this help section explaining Contenture might be something you would want to check out. Apparently the fees are put into a pool and distributed among all Concenture users.

I realized after signing up and adding the plugin and the badge that it wouldn’t really benefit a blog like mine sometimes I jump the gun before I have all the facts, aah the joys of aging. The following quote is from Techgeist “Contenture is an anti-ad service that provides website owners and users the option of actual payments instead of seeing ugly advertisements all over the place.” I’m sure those of you that use Clicky got the same e-mails I did and were probably curious so I decided to add this small post for those people like myself that weren’t sure how it works.
