Why Does Anyone Need All That Stuff?

Posted by: jude   in Mature Not Senile Misc

I have stopped buying stuff, you might wonder what I’m referring to so I’ll tell you. Stuff to me are things I like to have around and look at which actually serve no purpose except to gather dust. Nick-knacks, wooden boxes, Nascar collectibles, anything I think might be old and worth money someday. I have stopped wondering about all the treasures I might find at someones yard sale because it’s only stuff and I can’t take it with me nor would I want to.

Every time we pass all that loot on our rides Bill always asks me if I want to stop and look around and my answer is always no lately. I have no more room for any stuff and I’m thinking about getting rid of the stuff I already have because it’s clutter. I hate being a pack rat and I need to let everything go so it wont be a burden. Anything I don’t actually use I’m going to get rid of and that goes for the stuff in my mind also. I have collected so much clutter and baggage in my mind over the years that it weights me down.

I always hear Christians talking about giving their burdens to God and letting him take care of them. God has always taken care of me or some higher power has, but I still feel burdened maybe that comes from the chemical imbalance in my head. As bad as Alzheimer sounds and is I sometimes would love to just forget everything and relearn every day until the end. Yes, I’ve known many people that suffer from Alzheimer or some type of dementia and it’s very sad and hard on the families.

I get tired of worrying about people, places, and things and worry is just a wasted emotion. I’ve tried to live in the now and let everything take it’s natural course, but that doesn’t always work for me. It’s so easy to tell other people what they should and should not be doing and how to do and not do, but then it’s not them. Usually when it comes to something that touches them they fall apart and don’t know how to handle things or that’s been my experience, they can handle someone elses life, but not their own.

Can you imagine the chaos we would be living in if Moses hadn’t come down from the Mountain with God’s 10 commandments? I’m not a bible thumper and I’m always amazed how God talks to only a selected few, the chosen few like Jimmy Swaggart and others in his profession. God has never talked to me at least I don’t think so if he did I’m sure I didn’t listen. I’m sure he’s touched my heart at times like when my Son was born and Ethan and when he gave Bill to me.

I’ll stop my thoughts there on those subjects because I didn’t mean to get off track. My point was about letting go of all the clutter and stuff. Just because something is of value to me doesn’t mean it will be to someone else so I’m going to stop hoarding and buying material stuff unless I’m going to use it. When we’re out riding I have always loved looking at other peoples stuff that has cluttered their lives, but from now on that’s where I’m going to leave it, in their yard and life. I have enough stuff to get rid of.

Natalie's 1st Birthday Party

Posted by: jude   in Home and Family

We went to Natalie’s 1st birthday party and I posted photo’s below, that’s Bill’s Daughters’ little baby and I’m happy that I get to be Nana to her and Nate. This past year has flown by and it’s hard to believe that my Son’s Ethan was a year old August 1st and I still haven’t received any photos since I saw him in March. They grow and change so much and it would be nice if my DIL was considerate. Bill keeps telling me, well she’s young and I say young hell she’s almost 40. Okay enough of that hopefully I’ll see him this week.

Arizona Senior Living/Colten Adult Care

Posted by: jude   in Senior Health

I lived in Arizona a long time ago, Phoenix actually for a month or two and it’s about 13 or 14 miles from Scottsdale which I thought was beautiful. We called it Sun City, but I think it’s referred to as Valley Of The Sun and a lot of people retire there. Of course to me it looked like people with money lived there and I thought if I ever got rich that would be a place I would like to be.

If you have the money and your looking for an interesting and beautiful place you might want to consider Arizona senior living. I was looking at the Colten adult care homes and they look very nice. They have 3 different homes and people can even bring their own furniture if they choose and they will even accommodate pets. The meals are planned around your likes and dislikes.

The Colten senior care AZ is run by Jana and her husband. She’s a Clinical Social Worker and has been taking care of the elderly for 25 years in nursing homes and adult care homes. She decided she didn’t like the depressing atmosphere that she always encountered so decided she would try her hand and see if she couldn’t create a happier living experience for the elderly that choose to make their home with them.

The assisted living Scottsdale homes look beautiful and they have an activity director that works between the 3 homes to schedule events that the residents are interested in. They have live music once a week and try to make a loving, interesting life for the people that live there. I certainly wouldn’t want to be in a nursing home so if at all possible when I get a lot older I may have to consider the assisted living idea if I can afford it because it isn’t like being in an old folks home.

They have what we call high rises around here where we live for assisted living and they charge by your income, but there is a long waiting list and it’s like little apartments and doesn’t seem very friendly to me. Well, I’ll face all that when I have to. Hopefully Bill and I will be able to live here in our home  till we die and be able to maintain, although it is getting harder getting up and down steps.

Do You Think We Grow Into Our Names?

Posted by: jude   in Pappy and Nana

All expectant parents have fun deciding on a name for their child, they buy baby name books and look up the meaning for the name and the origin. Bill’s first wife’s parents had a thing for J so all their kids were named using that initial and they expected their children to carry on their tradition and all of them did except for Bill’s Son and he put his foot down and said the boy would be named after him. Needless to say the little boy wasn’t treated as well as all the other J Grandkids, now how childish and mean is that?

Many parents have sentimental names picked out and in my case my first love had decided Eric David would be his Son’s name which I fell in love with and when I gave birth at 16 that’s exactly what he was named. When I was pregnant I didn’t even consider a girls name and knew it would be Eric David. Eric decided not to name his Son after him because he was afraid the boy would be as mean as him so named him Ethan David instead which means strong one and friend. He will need to be strong since his Father is no longer here.

Eric by the way means ruler of all and he actually thought he was. He was very head strong and everything had to be his way even as a little boy, if I had only knew the meaning of that name I might have had second thoughts about calling him that. Ethan was suppose to be up this week, but I haven’t heard anything yet. She doesn’t like to keep me informed very often and really doesn’t seem to care that I might worry, that old saying is so true about a Son is a Son until he takes a wife, but a Daughter is a Daughter all her life, okay enough of that.

I told you about Bill’s Son expecting another baby in Feb. 2010. The last one if it had been a boy was going to be called after Bill, but now it seems with this one they are entertaining the name Blade William. Needless to say he’s not overly fond of the name, he told his Son he might as well call it Switchblade or Slingblade. I have no clue where young people come up with some of the weird names they saddle their children with. I have noticed lately a trend to use the outdated names again which I as an older person can relate to.

Everyone wants their children to be unique and different, but I’ve noticed over the years people tend to grow into their names. What’s wrong with good solid old-fashioned names? Also people name their children weird names and then call them by their initials, what’s up with that? They now have a TJ and a AJ both girls and we refuse to use their initials we call them by their given name, although the other side uses them to identify their grandchildren. I told Bill at least the middle name doesn’t start with an M, how would you like to be referred to as BM as in bowel movement?

Have a great weekend!

Butt Paste For Jock Itch?

Posted by: jude   in Mature Not Senile Misc

Not long ago I told all you guys about a great product to detail and shine your cars and bikes remember, Pig Snot? You can purchase it at any Harley store. Now I want to share another product for all you guys that get rashes and jock itch from heat and moisture, detergent and softeners or anything else. It’s called Butt Paste, where do all these weird names come from? I’m afraid of what I may find next.

Really I’m not making that up photo below to prove it, it’s actually for diaper rash and Bill’s brother saw it on Oprah and bought some and now he swears by it. When Bill got a rash he recommended it and even went and bought it for him.  He tried it that night and then the next day. His brother was so excited to know how well it worked for him he called the very next day.

Anyone knows that it takes awhile to clear up a rash it doesn’t go away over night. Bill tried it for 2 days and it was so messy and he really didn’t see a difference so off to the pharmacy he went. They recommended Lotrimin Ultra and take it from me that did the trick. The rash is finally going away. The Butt Paste might work for some and it may work on your baby’s diaper rash, but it doesn’t work for everyone no matter what Bill’s brother heard on Oprah.

I found a review of Boudreaux’s Butt Paste on that site that gives all the drug information.
