Paralyzed Or Cancer/Which Would Be Worse?

Posted by: jude   in Senior Health

In one of my talks with my Son I asked him if anything could possibly be worse than cancer and his answer was yes being paralyzed would be worse. I’m not sure I agree, but it certainly gives me something to think about. For those of you that said prayers I’d like to say that they have helped and thank-you very much for your thoughts. We all have our good days and bad ones and I pray for all of us to have more of the good ones.

Shadow (my furry son) had a restless night because he has a hard time with pooping inside and he holds it until he can’t hold it anymore then he cries and cries and I feel so sorry for him, but then he gets quite and settles down. He still hasn’t tried to get up and the 24th will be a month he hasn’t been active and mobile and we’re worried that he wont even bother to try, but I still have hope that someday he will.

I can’t believe I am still sick, it’s going on a month now and it wont go away it seems to be stuck in my throat and ears. I have been getting plenty of rest and fluids and eating right, but it still persists, I have never had a virus last this long, anyone else having a problem this year getting rid of theirs? I’m starting to think that the older I get the the worse everything is going to be and I’m not looking forward to any of it.

A few years back when Bill started taking a mild blood pressure pill I bought him a monitor that he could check his pressure with at home. He likes to play doctor and check mine also when I let him and the last few times it’s been pretty high so now he’s worried that I might have a stroke and he’s pushing me to make an appointment which I will do next week when I feel better. Strokes and heart attacks do run in my family.

I was thinking about all of this because of Shadow’s problems and I’d certainly hate to be in the position he is in now and have Bill try to take care of both of us. Just thinking about not being able to take care of my physical needs sends a chill through me. I watched my Mother take care of my paralyzed Father and how hateful and bitter he became and I would really not like to be in that position.

Of course no one would want to have either happen to themselves or anyone else and I’ve thought a lot about that conversation with my Son. I thought at least if he had been paralyzed he could still be able to watch his Son grow up, but he was adamant that he would prefer cancer to being paralyzed. He must have thought about this a lot because he knew about my family history.

Little did we know that all that cancer was running strife on his blood Fathers side, the only thing he ever inherited from him.

New Product For Old Wrinkles?

Posted by: jude   in Senior Health

I received a small sample of DermaLastyl-B in the mail and at my age I’m afraid it might be too late to help my poor old aging skin, but it feels good when I use it and actually feels like more elastin. You only need a small amount because it’s concentrated.

As I commented before if you smoke you might as well save any money you’re planning to spend on the fountain of youth because it simply wont work unless you’re prepared to get Botox and that only lasts a short time and is very expensive.

I have a friend that spent so much money on Mary Kay that she could have bought a brand new car and forget all the home shopping products and department stores. She didn’t even smoke and nothing helped her regardless of all the promises.

I took a close-up picture of under my eye which looks worse than if you view the whole face all together, but I wanted the shock value for myself and I could even see the fine downy hair all over my face which normally I don’t notice probably cause I don’t wear glasses unless working.

At any rate I’m going to use up the sample and see what I think and if I want to spend 89 dollars for a 2 month supply then I’ll decide, but I was reading that they are developing the one ingredient in this product to help with healing in the military so I’m keeping my eye on it.

I’m not good with photos so sorry, yeah I know they look crappy.

Eating Raw For A Healthier Body

Posted by: jude   in Senior Health

I know a lot of older people that are switching over to healthier eating of raw food instead of cooked because of health issues or lessening the chances of heart disease and diabetes. When I say raw I mean vegetables, fruit, and nuts of course. More and more people are cutting meat out of their diet and doing less cooking, I’m not sure I can totally do that at this point though because I still like it and no matter how you cook vegetable burgers they just don’t taste like meat.

Everyone knows that when you cook food it can destroy the protein, vitamins, and fat and the natural enzymes that help you digest them will break down. We know that raw food has a higher nutritional value and you’ll fill up quicker because of the fiber and extra water so you eat less and lose weight. Raw food also has more flavor than cooked food so you need less salt and spices that can irritate your stomach and other parts of the digestive system.

For those people that are into saving energy and money and recycling just think this raw food diet would be very low maintenance I don’t like to cook anyhow, but Bill does. You wont spend hours slaving over a hot stove, you wont have messy dishes and pots and pans to scour or run your dishwasher very often and it’s environmentally friendly because you can put the leftovers in the compost bin. Bill certainly wouldn’t know what to do with himself then.

We would also use less energy resources and help the environment because it would encourage more organic farming and less transporting so that would mean less carbon dioxide emissions and with more orchards planted that would release more oxygen and help minimize the Greenhouse Effect. It would mean a lot less garbage to dispose of and less cans and other recyclables to worry about.

It would mean healthier bodies with less digestive disorders and certainly less free radicals that occur from cooking and doesn’t that mean less risk of cancer? I’m actually trying to talk myself into this because I know I’d feel better and lessen the risk of a stroke or heart attack. I certainly wouldn’t want that because I don’t want to be a burden on Bill, but then again it would at least give him something to occupy his time with when he retires.

The Older I Get The More Aches And Pains

Posted by: jude   in Senior Health

As I get older I find I have more and more aches and pains and I try to will them away, but that doesn’t always work for me and over the years I have tried many things like crystals, stones, and copper bracelets. If you can name it I probably used it along with a lot of positive thinking and if you believe something will work then it very possibly could and will.

Don’t tell me you don’t know what I’m talking about because I know you’re just like me looking for a cure for something, maybe a natural cure. I know I’ve tried so many things and they just haven’t worked because maybe I didn’t really believe it even though I wanted to. The mind has so much power and  energy and I totally like to see the positive energy work over the negative.

I have seen things work when I was young because my Mother  told me they did and I believed. I have a long scar on my thumb because I stuck it under her knife and she filled it with sugar and stuck a butter knife down the back of my neck my thumb stopped bleeding very quickly and eventually healed without stitches, but I still have the scar. There are a lot of old home remedies that work.

There has been so much talk over the years about magnetic bracelets and necklaces and even magnetic padding for your bed to help with back pains and other illnesses which I totally want. My poor old body needs all of that magnetic energy because of all the abuse over the years. If you have any electronic implanted medical devices like a pacemaker, defibrillator or insulin pump you shouldn’t use magnetic energy though.

Everyone should always check with their doctor before trying anything new.

Overdosing On Water

Posted by: jude   in Senior Health

I hate to admit this, but I am not a huge water drinker. It’s recommended to drink at least 8-12 eight ounce glasses a day and I never manage to get my quota even though I do get water from food also and other liquids. It’s reported that a healthy adult kidney can process at least 15 liters a day, that’s a lot of processing.

I learned the hard way that you should never drink a lot of water at one time you should spread it out through out the day. I was feeling bad a few years ago and Bill told me I was getting dehydrated and that I should drink as much water as possible so what did I do? I stood at the sink and downed so many glasses of water that I actually felt like I was going to burst.

I never knew that drinking water could make you sick, but it can kill you if you drink too much too quickly, it’s called water intoxication and it can cause hyponatremia which is an imbalance of the salts in the blood or electrolytes that can occur when an excessive amount of  water accumulates in the body at a higher rate than it can be excreted this can have a dire effect.

I never knew any of this until I made myself deathly ill and I swelled up like a balloon, it was horrible, but I did learn later how lucky I was because it can cause  brain damage, as well as death, oh wait now I know what’s wrong with my brain sometimes. Our bodies need at least 3 quarts of fluid a day give or take depending on circumstances, but not all at once.

I also add some sea salt to my water now so I don’t run the risk of ever overdosing on water again and causing the electrolytes to become diluted. If you want to find out more simply do a search I should probably read more about it myself, but I don’t ever plan to overload my body with all that water at one time ever again, sometimes even too much of a good thing can hurt you.
